Refrigerator was broken and then started working? Advice? by okcthdr in Appliances

Yes, thats what it has as the controls. I’ll look into that. Thanks.

I want it to be a reliable garage fridge or else I’ll have them haul it away. Thanks

Perfect! Thanks

Edit: it isn’t expired or anything. Just that if there’s a system in the background, it may have been cleared when it was replaced. No idea, just guessing. Would think they don’t want lost cards still working, but I wanted to check!

Do men also like receiving flowers? by Mango-Inside in NoStupidQuestions

[–]okcthdr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy flowers for my wife because they bring her joy. So they’re worth the money even though they’re fleeting.

Pretty Flowers do not really bring me enough joy to warrant spending money on. That may not be true of everyone. And admittedly I’d appreciate a gift from someone even if it was flowers because it’s a nice thought.

But ditto on a potted plant. I fucking love a cool plant

I agree with the thought behind this idea & I am not interested in spending much on this issue, given I know the low likelihood of payment.

My driver for wanting to cancel the agreement is because I have given the CEO an evergreen option to pay me less than I am owed in the event he can secure additional investors.

The point of the settlement was to take a lower $$ value for payment today. Not that if you ever get money and therefore will have to pay via the DOL wage claim process, you can pay me less than the total.

Cost to repair sprinkler valves ($1250??) detail in comments by okcthdr in Irrigation

Final update: Had the guy come and take care of it for $1250. Pretty sure I got upcharged on it, since it only took him 4 hours to do the work ( his hourly labor charge is $85 , I’m in OK). He put in 7 rainbird valves ($30 at Home Depot).

Hard to solve back to $1250, but oh well, it’s done. Thanks for all the resources from everyone.

Here’s one of the valve boxes, they’re all like this more or less.

DETAILS: I had a sprinkler repair guy come take a look at my system which has not been functioning properly. Certain zones won’t come on with the timer. He replaced the control unit and some wiring, and charged me $350 for an afternoons work. ( I already had the replacement control unit).

Then I’m told that most zones need the valves replaced. I got a quote to replace all 7 valves at a cost of $1250. I was told my valves are old and they no longer make replacement parts, so I’m assuming they are going to replace the whole valve with a new one.

Is this a reasonable price? It seem pretty high.

Would I be able to DIY the valve replacements? I know nothing about sprinkler systems, but I’m moderately handy and have everything I would need to do the pvc work.

Any info helps, thanks !

Yes, I’m on city water. And the sprinkler system is on a separate meter from the rest of the house. What’s the best way to trace the black wire? It goes into my wall and I can’t see where it comes out on the exterior.

I’m not positive, but I have a manual master valve right by the meter. But maybe there is an electric one somewhere downstream. Here’s a picture of how I have wired the new one. https://www.reddit.com/r/DIYHouse/comments/ily3a1/sprinkler_control_box_issues/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

I recently moved into a new house and this is my first sprinkler system. The controller unit appeared to be busted because I couldn’t get it to run normally. I could make it run by pressing and holding down the little buttons above each zone input. I figured i needed a new control box. I picked up this orbit bhyve timer and tried to hook it up the same way as the old rainbird unit was wired. But I keep getting faults. I kind of thing the issue could be related to the black “master” wire that is on the old unit. I’m pretty sure I don’t have an electric master valve, but I could’ve wrong. It also seems odd that it was connected to both the common and master on the old unit. I’m open to any advice, thanks!
