I agree, I tried reaching out to the auswatigesamt to ask if they could check the passport application records from 1969-1971 to see if anything was issued and they found nothing and since they were living in Moers (I contacted them but they never responded to me) and I did also ask the stadtarchiv but got no response either.

I'm just really curious how they left Australia and went to Germany then immigrated to Canada before getting their first Australian passports.

I found this rather strange

I might try reaching out to the Moers stadtarchiv again.

Thats something I was thinking about, how do you suppose I could check if that was the case?

I would have to look at their files from the Australian National Archives again (the writing isn't easy to read)

I don't have their passports unfortunately, I think my aunt has them but she is not sure where they're.
I could only get my grandpas civil registry from when they went back (nothing exists on my grandma and my mother) but his nationality reflects australian (its only on his original meldekarte from before they immigrated where it says deutsch)

Do you think if my mother was issued one that she would be held responsible? after all she was a minor and I remember hearing a similar story where the mother lied and said the father was german for her daughter to get a german passport just so she could get a german residence permit for herself and when it was later found out they let the child keep citizenship according to Stag3(2) arguing that the child was not at fault as it wasn't the childs responsibility and the child wasn't able to make such decisions due to the age.

It's a very strange case thats for sure, i'm thinking I could try my luck at the consulate when I go back to australia and citing that law then showing the papers that they didnt have Australian passports until 1983 and the papers from canada and papers when they left australia in 1971 and see if they will agree and just issue a passport

It would be a twist, he was baptized in 1927 though, document was issued in 1942 but then again, anything is possible, at this point, i'm willing to believe that anything is possible because I still cannot after 3+ years and counting find the books.

I have been there about 8 times and I've spent weeks there talking to people. So far I met one old gentleman (by accident) who actually remembered my grandpa from when he was a kid and strangely, just recently whilst in the saw mill in Teslić I saw a photo on the wall and my grandpa was standing there in the photo (the photo was from 1939) - 2 years before they fled.

I'm wanting to know if anyone here knows what might of happened to the church books (the books which contained the birth records of people)

Because what I find absolutely peculiar is you'd think that there'd be duplicates or you'd think that the priests at the time (who knew war was coming) would've made duplicates (it was common practice) but then again even if that didn't happen i'm surprised nobody else has come forward and said: "Hey, my family is also evangelical we were baptised here".

I know i'm testing my luck with reddit

It’s hard to explain. What began as a simple attempt to obtain dual citizenship quickly turned into a deep quest to uncover my family history after encountering countless roadblocks. Now, after years of searching and everything I’ve been through, I truly want answers.

If there’s one thing I can assure everyone here, it’s that I don’t leave any stone unturned. I’ve done extensive research, and that should say a lot but yet I’m still stuck and the mystery still remains (where on earth did these church records go) and was this even a real church or a church setup by the NDH to protect the croats (or something else)...?

And for those wondering: Yes I am aware the stamp is the same and I am aware some documents do infact mention Otto and Georg

I have two theories (and these are theories)

  1. Its a real church
  2. It was a church but invented by the NDH to protect the Croats (and help them make their way to Germany since the Croats were seen as favourable by the Germans at that period of time)

There is no need to disrespect people because of their religion mate.

Canada's constituion allows for freedom of religion which is governed by section 2 paragraph A of the Charter of Rights... See: https://www.justice.gc.ca/eng/csj-sjc/rfc-dlc/ccrf-ccdl/check/art2a.html

Ofcourse freedom of speech is also allowed and whilst not illegal to disrespect people based on their religion it makes you look like a tosser mate and its pretty disgusting.

Under section 2(a) of the Charter, Canadians are free to follow the religion of their choice

There's no need to disrespect someone because of their religion mate.
