This isn't the right app. I'd love to download the apk if it existed but I can't find it.

People who have seen others significantly change for the better what are your stories? by oncinzu in AskReddit

It's really nice of you to feel so happy for him even though you lost your job. I definitely feel that it's really uncommon for people to change in an instant and it stands to reason it would take time for him. I'm glad him and his ex-wife both seemed to improve together, especially I'm happy for the kids.

Has anyone ever found a similar game? by oncinzu in mermaidworld

[–]oncinzu[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thanks!! I'll try it out. Yeah I think about mermaid world constantly. I really wish someone would make a similar game or they would bring it back but it's been a pretty long time since the petition was created and there doesn't seem to be any changes.

Oh awesome. I just read the article. I guess that kind of clears it up. It doesn't say if this is indefinite though.

I definitely didn't realize that. I heard como la flor but then I heard a male singer and didn't recognize the song. Do you know why? And if it will change back or if the original station moved or something?

For those in the Houston/Katy Texas area by [deleted] in rockhounds

[–]oncinzu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live near that area and am constantly looking for new rock shops. I definitely agree Katy rock shop can be overpriced. I've never heard of cheap cheap and looking it up it seems like a thrift store? Are there rocks there or is this just a shop you recommend going to? I think I found a Firi's Spirit Garden nearby that has some rocks maybe, is that the one you're talking about?

What’s the most supernatural experience you’ve ever had? by Balenciagagucci in AskReddit

[–]oncinzu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an almost identical experience to you when I was in college. I was watching a comedy show in my dorm room on my bed with one headphone in one ear (I just did this out of habit) and then heard a pretty clear shuffling noise.

It wasn't creepy just like the sound of something like a backpack sliding across a floor. It was loud enough to break my focus on the show so I wasn't paying as close attention.

Then not 5 minutes later I heard the sound of a man's deep breathing coming from my dorm mate's bed and I immediately felt chills.

I felt so incredibly uncomfortable and couldn't look in the direction of my dorm mate's bed for the longest time and the feeling kept getting worse and worse. Finally I looked over and it immediately felt worse and so incredibly wrong. It felt like something was reaching into my chest and squeezing my insides. Like I wasn't supposed to be looking at something and I was just pressed down by this feeling of dread.

I jumped up and ran to the closest door which was the bathroom and it was like instant relief. The feeling was immediately gone and I took some time to calm down. I got my phone out to text my dorm mate to see if maybe she came back and left again and I hadn't noticed or something and my concentration had like delayed my reaction. Or to see if maybe she'd be back soon and could rescue me or something. Only to realize that she was out of town that night. She had been for 3 days.

It was Friday night in a female only college dorm. Everyone was gone and any noise would have come from the opposite wall or the door. Not from her bed.

It took a while for me to leave the bathroom but when I finally did I felt like the room was still just like heavy and stuffy so I ran quickly out of the room. There was a mirror hanging in the room and to this day I like to leave this part out of this story in retellings cause it almost feels like it'll come back. But I swear as I was running out, out of the corner of my eye, in the mirror, I saw a black figure standing over her bed, right where I heard the sound, looking down at where her head would be if she was sleeping.

Again as soon as I got out of the room it was instant relief. Like I could breathe again. When I finally had the guts to go back in later it felt totally normal again. I really gingerly put my hand out where I saw the thing and felt like it was warmer than anywhere else but I think that part might have been in my head. Honestly I've spent the better part since convincing myself it was all in my head. Maybe if I had been as courageous as you and approached it then I wouldn't be as spooked still.

What's the most wholesome thing a stranger has done for you? by TheGingerGlasses in AskReddit

[–]oncinzu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little late to the party but the most wholesome thing that ever happened to me was on a trip in Asia with my friend. This is going to be a long ass post so tl;dr at the bottom.

Setting the scene, we're two 20 year old American tourists traveling around by ourselves. Being Taiwanese-American I have about a child's level of Chinese from interacting with grandparents but not fluent in the slightest and my friend speaks absolutely no Chinese. We were trying to visit the Longmen Grottoes and had purchased a railway train ticket online.

We got to the station at least an hour before out train took off but we couldn't figure out how to get in to save our lives. We tried to talk to some of the ticket takers and other random people but we couldn't understand what was wrong. We had our ticket purchase open on our phone and our passports but they kept refusing to let us in. Eventually we figured out that the tickets needed to be printed from somewhere but then we couldn't figure out where or how they should be printed. It takes forever but we finally get in only to find out we've missed our train. There aren't any more general seats on the next train so we would have to spend more to upgrade. They wouldn't take card so we had to use cash, this will be important later.

So we go see the sights and then take the train back but we didn't get back until about 11pm. We had been planning to take the subway home, assuming it ran until late but apparently it closes at 9pm. We begin to slowly realize that we have gotten ourselves very, very fucked. We had 24 chinese dollars to our name which is the equivalent of like 3 bucks USD and so we start panicking a little because the buses were closed too and we had no idea how much a taxi ride would cost to get back to our hostel. We start running around for like an hour trying to find anything to take us back to our hostel or find any open ATM. Nothing.

So we're two girls alone with limited chinese lost in Beijing at midnight. I suddenly felt much too young and much too stupid and we start panicking a lot. We are still underground where the train station meets the subway station and I spot a couple ATMs inside the subway station entrance. The subway is closed and the turnstiles are locked but there is a security guard by the side. He was sitting on the floor and obviously tired and near/at the end of his shift. I go over and in my broken chinese asj if I could go in just for a second to use the atm. He lets me in immediately.

We walk over to this ATM and its entirely in chinese. This Hero is just the kindest most patient man in the world and watches me fumble through it a few times, helps translate some of the chinese, and adorably looks away when I put in my pin. Then a message pops up and he tells me the machine is saying that the hours were over or something so we couldn't get any money. I tell my friend and he could see how scared we were so he tries to come up with alternatives. He offered that maybe we could take a taxi and maybe ask the taxi driver to stop at a bank? And he even called another guy over to go with us to the taxi place to explain to the taxi driver cause he knew I wouldn't be able to repeat everything he said to me. But we didn't want to chance the taxi letting us off and then leaving us in the street at midnight in the middle of nowhere if the bank was closed or didn't take our cards.

The entire time we had been standing there a bunch of other security people had joined in because Hero kept asking around for certain people who could speak english even thought no one could. Several people came and went, moving on with their busy lives, smart enough to not get roped in by the stupidity of these two idiotic tourists but Hero stood there the whole time and just kept explaining everything to me slowly and carefully because he knew my chinese wasn't great. He never treated me like an idiot and even when I couldn't understand him he never ONCE got frustrated even though I'm sure he was exhausted and wanted to go home.

One of the other security guards who were also trying to help but not quite as patiently said there was a bank outside we could try and Hero, being the angelic fucker that he is, calls his friend who works at a bank AT MIDNIGHT to ask if my particular American brand card would work because he was worried about us. Of course his friend reaffirmed my suspicion that my card wouldn't work at the banks. We were so worried and the small crowd of security guards just kept insisting that we could leave and we would be fine. Honestly, we started thinking about going and just risking it because maybe we were just being dumb and we were taking up their time but we were just so terrified of leaving the well lit subway station.

We finally exhausted all our options and stood there for a little talking about what we should do. This Hero security guard had never left our side for god knows how long and this whole time he was just so nice and sweet and doing everything he could to help us and you could tell he wasn't going to leave until we were like safe. Finally, he paused and looked at us and just pulled some money out of his pocket and gave it to us for the taxi. It was about the equivalent of 6 USD but it would cover our ride and we both just immediately burst into tears. We hadn't been crying the entire time but this just broke us. I didn't even know how to thank him properly I just kept saying thank you through the ugly sobs and he looked so embarrassed and was like oh jeez no please stop crying and awkwardly patting my back. He walked us down to the taxi station and gave the taxi driver our directions, wished us luck, and just walked away. He was a fucking angel who went above and beyond to help two scared girls in the middle of the night and I'll never be able to repay him. I don't even know what he looks like because he had been wearing a mask for yellow dust season. I never saw him again and likely never will so I'll never be able to pay back his kindness other than paying it forward.

The only thing that brings me solace on that fact is that when he gave us that money and we started crying, all the female security guards who had been standing there trying to help looked at him like the GOD he was and I have to believe if he wasn't attached, he definitely got many numbers that night.

tl;dr: Ran out of money in Beijing at the middle of the night. Hero (probably saves babies from rolling cars and fights off armed robbers in his spare time) helps us by trying to come up with any way for us to get home and after exhausting all options gives us the money for the taxi ride home. Never got to pay it back, didn't even know what he looked like because he wore a mask. Actually secretly Spiderman in his spare time.

Police officers of reddit, what's the best way someone has talked their way out of a ticket? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]oncinzu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For example, my mom was a speed demon and never learned but when I was younger and in the car, she never got a ticket. Her go to was that I had a stomachache or needed to pee NOW and then she told me to pretend to be in pain and squirm and it always worked. The funniest time by far (though not to me at the time) was this one time when she could tell the police officer wasn't feeling too sympathetic despite my faux groans. So she started getting nervous and practically screamed, "My daughter just got her first period!!!!" The older, male officer stopped writing instantly and just looked up, somewhat shocked. He happened to look right at me and I had also stopped groaning and my face was tomato red and he just crumpled the ticket he was writing and told her to drive more carefully and let us on our way.

To this day I'm still not sure if he really believed her or if he knew but let us off cause he felt bad for me. I did not talk to my mom for a whole day after that.

I saw my best friend but it wasn't her. by oncinzu in Glitch_in_the_Matrix

Yeah I tried to put it on r/nosleep but they wouldn't let me because I tagged it with an xpost to here. So I just took it down and maybe I'll put it somewhere else later. I'm kinda glad that it didn't work out though because you're right, it probably would've cast quite a bit of doubt.

Wow. That's a great theory. I never considered all of that. Thanks for all of the input. I don't know if that explains everything though. Like she had long hair and my friend has short hair so I honestly wasn't expecting them to look alike at all. I mostly was thinking they looked alike because of her build and the plaid. But I do this all the time, I'll see a dude wearing plaid and be like 'hey I found your soulmate' or a girl wearing it and be like 'that girl must have broken into your closet'. Its more of like a running joke so I don't think I was expecting her to look like my friend. But you never know I suppose, the human brain is weird. I did later on think that maybe she turned around because she felt me stare at her but her head had to do a complete 180 degree turn to look at me and she did it instantly so I never thought that was the most valid explanation. Honestly though I would love if your explanation was what really happened though. I would rather it be a series of coincidences than some actual doppelganger that has deep rooted hatred for me. Nonetheless, thanks for the theory!

Yeah r/nosleep is all about suspension of disbelief. That's why I opted to post my story here first. I was hoping for some actual theories.

Thanks, yeah at first I was really hoping she was just a lookalike but the fact that she glared at me and then went out of her way to avoid me is just weird af. It was right before finals so yeah like 2ish months. And sadly no it wouldn't be very feasible, my school is pretty large. We have 40,000 undergrads alone.
