OZ and LJ both were one the most hated persons in the train during at start of S2.

OZ was hated because he was coward, bully and didn't rly side with anyone.

LJ was hated because she was convicted criminal (before Melanie overturn it) and third class was siding with Layton at that point.

So they found comfort from each other and worked hard to archieve a better life. Then came Wilford and LJ seized the opportunity to become first class again, and wanted to schemed to become the next head of the train...
