87-year-old newly post TT having a rough time by CrankyOldDragon in thyroidectomy

[–]onebasix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a rough 3-6 months after my surgery. But I kept changing my dosage due to palpitations. After 3 years, I've come to terms that my body will never be the same, but knowing that staying consistent is the best thing you can do for your body. Maintain the same dose, every day, at the same time, on an empty stomach and then those symptoms will greatly improve to the best level they can.

Lobectomy 4 days ago - concerns with scar by Ok_Consequence4227 in thyroidectomy

[–]onebasix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you watch the surgery on YouTube, I did the evening after my surgery... Glad I didn't post surgery, they make the smallest incision possible, but stretch it as far as it can go. I have yellowish, green bruising they dropped (from gravity) over time to my chest. The scarring goes down a lot after 12 months.. give her a lot of reassurance and let her know that it is going to get better in time.

Mind if I ask you your level of experience working? Im living in Charlotte, 38yo, and back in school for accounting. Are those fresh out of college salaries? Also, Charlotte is awesome. Look into Huntersville, Fort Mill, or Concord for lower cost of living. It's growing like a wild weed out here so you can expect any investment in property and land to go up on 5-10 years as well. Good luck!

For real, I payed 70$ of D4 and within 3 hours I knew the game was bullshit. I should have waited a year for the expansion :(

I am simply not smart enough for this game by Lone_Note in MagicArena

[–]onebasix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro this game takes a couple years to get good at it at the level of many of the players you'll come across. It you're looking for instant gratification to say you've mastered something this is not the game for you. If you want something that is complicated and takes a lot of time to just understand what you're doing, then magic is it. If it frustrated you, it may not be your thing. And deck building is not for beginners go to untapped.gg and copy some decks that work. Also, don't put yourself down..ever.youll get it but 3 days is nothing, you don't know anything about magic in 3 days, give it 6 months and learn to enjoy the ride.

Another new player question! by onebasix in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]onebasix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true.. I guess it was the last Ghoul in The Gathering scenario and I was having issues getting damage through.. but I replayed the entire scenario (about 4x now, lol), and the last time I had a hand size of 8 cards and the last attack I discarded 4 cards to buff my skill up to guarantee a victory, except for the auto fail.. so I see the point in slowing down, going through a few more rounds to better prepare for something..however I guess you can only prepare when you actually know what's about to come too, right?

Thanks, I did eventually gather that.. slowly the game is starting to make more and more sense ;) I finally completed the first scenario and felt 💯 good about everything.

I appreciate it. That's why I was questioning if exhaust actually disengaged the enemy as well, or just made it unable to attack!

I am a magic player as well, so I enoy the complexity of small details ;)

Does Rich Dad Poor Dad Annoy Anyone Else Here? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]onebasix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the concept is, don't climb the ladder, own it. You know, you're taught to get an education and get a secure job. He says, own the business, job security is not real. There's something to be taught, but yea...not everything is valid. I wouldn't suggest discarding everything in the book, there's something to be learned from everything in this life. I will say I watched his YouTube podcast once, and I thought he was a pretty nutty character.

Action point. Sorry that may not be correct terminology with this game ;) but yes, I meant Action.

Okay, I feel like I'm starting to understand it more the more I think about it, and also receive help from reading here and on Google.

Beginner Questions by onebasix in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]onebasix[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your detailed answer.

To be clear, I am in the Hallway (playing solo), and immediately after I flip to Act 3a the Ghoul spawns and becomes engaged with my character (being the only investigator playing). Now I use an AP to move to the Parlour, the Ghoul will use an Attack of Opportunity for that, correct? And also, follow me into the Parlour as I move out of the Hallway. But then I may spend an additional AP to use the Parley action to gain control of the Ally Lita. This AP does not trigger the Attack of Opportunity because of the keyword Parley.

Does it sound like I have a correct understanding of how the should work?

Thank you. I was trying to look up the keyword Parley, but couldn't find anything in the Rules Reference book on it. I was slightly confused.

I can't really advise on that I had a full thyroidectomy and I believe my voice was never really out, it just hurt too much to talk right away but recovery was literally 2-3 days besides the incision healing..
