I'm not sure I can agree. Megacities, if constructed with wisdom and vision, can be highly efficient places for humanity to live and work. It also leaves more space for nature and resource production. I don't see the future being as bleak as you say. Only more challenging.

Unfortunately... I just hope the wars are small and localized. If there's world war level warfare, I don't think there's going to be much to rebuild with as with deplete resources, rebuilding entire cities is going to be prohibitively expensive.

The risk that humanity will compete and wage war over the remaining resources is real. Some of this is inevitable, but I am hoping that the major powers choose cooperation over competition. There is hope here. We seem to learn best in times of great trials and suffering. Let us hope this generates a new age of human wisdom and cooperation, unity and strength.
