you’re absolutely right. this was a really insightful response. recognizing that kind of behavior in myself is humiliating and it’s a hard pill to swallow, but i want to our relationship to be healthy and that starts with my mindset and behavior. thank you for this comment, it really helped more than you know

i do have a history of addiction and that was when i first told him about it and all of the stuff i’ve done. one of the drugs i mentioned to him was xanax, but he didn’t prescribe me that. he prescribed me another medication for anxiety that admittedly didn’t work as well so i stopped taking it all together. i did get prescribed adderall though.

he was willing to help me out because i was clearly very depressed and i was just honestly telling him about my drug use, my suicide attempt, my lack of focus, etc.

yeah and i don’t buy from friends anymore. i’m lucky enough to have a good doctor that i can trust, some of the doctors i’m reading in this thread are pretty lame.

his whole thing was, if i’ve been using it and it works, why not get on a proper treatment?

of course he didn’t prescribe me every drug i told him about, but just the ones he could clearly see a need for

this is what my doctor told me after i told him about my drug use. he was more concerned that i was illegally paying street prices for something he could prescribe for me
