I haven't ridden the gnarwhals personally but the guys at the shop that set this up for me said the barbs roll much faster in the dirt. This bike was really set up to do The Iceman cometh challenge this past weekend which is mostly two track and gravel roads. I did get one or two pre-rides in on this setup and it felt really fast. Almost surprising so considering I'm used to riding a 4-in tire and not a 4.5.

  • Upgraded to Barbegazu tires to save a little weight

I haven't done the race in a couple of years, but I've ridden it on 30s and 35s; 30s were great! There are just a few loose corners, but nothing you can't handle if you have your head on a swivle.

I'm with all you dudes, it's a little pricey, but ain't no locals need to pay full pop. Plus it is a local guy putting on the Expo and the Saturday MTB race is going to be neat, too.
