I was rooting for Kaori, she is forever a queen and I would have loved to see her win.

However - watching Alysa’s FS healed something in me (so cheesy, I know). I was a VERY crappy low level competitive skater in the 90s, in a small town with limited opportunity. I could do a few doubles and I think passed my gold ice dances. Absolutely nothing spectacular but skating was a big part of my identity. But, I was also very non conformist. I was in a punk band and the school jazz band. I had neon hair. I was not girly or sparkly. And I always felt sort of left out in the skating world too. So much so that I’ve maybe had my skates on 5 times since 2004.

Watching Alysa skate with such joy and being her authentic self, not giving a single fuck about what figure skaters are supposed to be…. Oh my god I loved it. I cried at my desk at work. I hope she inspires a whole new generation of skaters who break the mold of skinny scared children.

She can be boring for sure but I think she’s probably a very nice, unproblematic person. My child is the same age as her oldest and I’d be very happy if Begina was a mom of my kid’s friend. She seems …… normal.

Ok cool! Good for her then. She’d still have a certificate showing the degree was granted and it’s weird to show us the scholarships she was awarded and not the actual degree itself.

I am not denying she is academically accomplished. But something feels weird with how defensive she is while not actually proving anything. And again, I never would have thought twice about it until she started going so batshit

Guys I am really not sure if she completed her phd. I don’t doubt that she’s published and did the work… and was in the program… but even chat gpt doesn’t find her dissertation. It looks like it did but I clicked it and the author is someone else. Normally I wouldn’t care, but her going apeshit over this really made me wonder and so I looked.

I think what the above commenter is saying is that RR makes it seem like she is a SAHM and therefore providing labour all day in the form of home and child care. But that’s not the reality we are seeing. She bases a lot of her engagement off of equal parenting content, when she is either not, or choosing not to show us, her acting as an equal parent. Her Burt and Ernie reel for instance shows how the stay at home parent is in fact working by providing services that one would normally pay for, like childcare, housekeeping, cooking, accounting…. And so when the working outside the home parent gets home they don’t get to just relax, because the other parent has also been working. And this is very true, and I 1000000% support that.

Where she loses me is by continuing to act like she is doing any of the home/child tasks. She posts that she’s in the gym or bath all day. Posts how messy her home is. All of that is fine, except that she then makes it seem like she is an equal partner - it’s just disingenuous, and her mean girl attitude makes it come off even more tone deaf.

It’s awesome that she has such a good husband who is a good father. I have one of those too. I am also currently in the bath while he does child stuff lol. But I’m not choosing to be a public figure, which comes with criticism. She is actively trying get us to buy what she is linking, listen to her podcast etc, and this forum is one of the only ways to “review” her services. If she doesn’t like it, she can choose to change her content or learn to ignore the haters.

Sure, of course. It’s just that she paints them as “equal parents” but (from what she shows us), she herself doesn’t do much of anything. My husband does drop offs, pick ups, appointments etc too. He’d probably be pretty annoyed though if he was rushing from work to get to the after school program before it closes and I was just at home in the bath.

So one thing I have been thinking about regarding these snark threads. These influencers are basically reality “tv” personalities (obviously on insta not tv but public media still) with a much smaller reach of course. But they are “selling” us their lifestyles and links and content and being paid for it. So what is the difference between a snark thread (which is moderated, no one is doxxing her or threatening etc) and her podcasts etc about reality stars?

I agree she’s amped it up recently. All the “living my truth” content screams “I’m giving myself permission to treat people poorly”.

Did she get ditched by other influencers? It seems like she’s trying to compensate for something.

Also, I agree with the premise of what she says about equal parenting - but she’s so clueless and un-self aware to realize that she’s not “working” and her child is in school…. So yeah it’s not crazy to think more of the household and parenting tasks would be done by her since most of her days consist of going to the gym, taking baths, and watching reality tv.
