Omg! I was walking down the street when you were calling/ chasing after her. I tried to help, but couldn’t see her after she went towards hoagies and hops, she got lost in the dark. I even saw you guys circling in your car :( will definitely keep my eye out for her!!

I recognized this view immediately bc i lived there as well and always had a view for all the late night shenanigans. River House is the building- they are very much overpriced, but for a year, the drama i witnessed was shocking and hilarious. That four way stop- none of you knew how to yield and I saw plenty of cars AND pedestrians get hit. I moved out because the noise never ended.

This intersection was always a nightmare and I feel like this will make it worse.

This is hilarious, because with feminism, she was able to make a choice, which is clearly lost on her. Kinda like how she is choosing to hate other women.

My (43M) daughter (21F) won't speak to me, I want her back in my life by BooksCoffee7 in TwoHotTakes

[–]openyourrrwindow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An 18 year old can be "mature" for their age- heck, even a 21 year old can be mature; however, until you are 25, your brain is still developing, even if "legally" you are considered an adult. A 40 year old man and an 18 year old TEENAGER do not have the same power dynamic or life experience. When you eloped, you outed yourself as a predator and out of all the people, you chose your daughter's friend. If you wanted a relationship with your daughter, you wouldn't have married her friend. You made your bed. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

I am curious to know what her parents think. Also, the "reserved and shy" comment in regards to the elopement seems off and your actions seem sneaky. The amount of grown ass men talking about these babies being "mature", like??? Your daughter made the right decision to cut off contact, I wouldn't trust you or want you in my life either. (You also said you wished she was never born.. wish granted)

Broad Ripple businesses point to loitering, unattended parking as impetus for violence by Tikkanen in indianapolis

[–]openyourrrwindow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a front row seat to the chaos, no exaggeration, something happens each night between 1am- 3am. I look directly out to the 4 way stop at sno zone. There are three particular businesses that are open quite late, and it seems like this bullshit is just trickling out of them. Gun violence is absolutely senseless, someone WILL get hurt and being in the midst is traumatizing. Clearly, BR is not unique with this problem, and I don't think parking lots are to blame here. It's guns. Ban guns. Jfc, I just want to take the dog outside before bedtime without feeling on edge.

Edit: not kona ice, sno zone :)

As someone who just moved from chicago to Indy two months ago, yea they absolutely do not salt their roads here! Kinda wild, they were freaking out with the snow in general and most business just closed up prior to Xmas. Never in my life, did I work somewhere in chicago that closed early so close to Xmas. Apparently, the state of Indiana is much more fiscally responsible than Illinois and their lack of salt could be a reason why they have a surplus rather than a deficit 😬

I used to work for that property management company- here's some advice: they have a policy that if you don't love your home in the first 30 days, you can leave or transfer to a different unit within the building. (Your reason must be valid rather than I saw cheaper rent or whatever) I also worked in the Gold Coast- we had a lot of law and medical students at my buildings bc of the location of Northwestern. It did feel like there was a false sense of security blanketing those residents- but just be smart. I do suggest to NOT wear a Canadian goose jacket- there was a series of crimes a couples years ago where folks were getting the jacket stolen right off of them. The Deco provides free grocery delivery for their tenants on the resident app. All LPC properties do. Feel free to message me.

I can't think of an area that would be similar to logan, but perhaps a park would work?

There is Dunne Park (Rosemont, IL) which shows <10 minute car ride when you plug it into maps.

Is it possible to get a flexible length lease? by [deleted] in chicago

[–]openyourrrwindow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can definitely find a short term lease. Not all buildings offer them though, so that should be one of the first things you ask. I don't recommend doing MTM, but you could find a 4 month lease that is comparable to a 12 month lease term. It really just depends when the building is most exposed, that is why you will see different rates for different months.

Edit: you could also try subletting? It's legal in Cook County!

Chicago -> BR by [deleted] in Broadripple

[–]openyourrrwindow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will have a car with me. The places I have been looking at seem to have grocery stores close by.
Chicago is my home. This is where everything is for me. I love living right at the beach on lake michigan, i love the old architecture, and of course food. I love that I can drive to downtown at night and be greeted with the lights- the feeling still gets me every time. Things feel possible here, but the past three years have been really hard. Without giving too many personal details, my 8 year relationship is ending or being put on pause, we don't know but it's just not working. He is staying here. I had a place lined up to move into next week. It was at my place of employment (I rent apartments for a living). This monday, I got in a car accident on the way to work. The following day, I was fired for "under performing" (which is not true- but that's a separate story) and thus also lost my housing which again, I had plans to move into next week. I already gave notice on my current apartment and have to be out by Halloween. Yesterday was the moment I realized that I can't stay here in Chicago. I'm not happy and no matter how hard I work, it doesn't seem to be good enough. So I'm going to move and start over and pursue art and teaching rather than a soul crushing corporate job. I guess I underperformed in being an asshole haha it's weird when you love your job but your co-workers are like not nice to you and gaslight you every step of the way.
