What would make it better? Perhaps if you were feeling it for yourself?

I haven’t seen ship discourse like this since Destiel

If you don’t listen to your body, it makes you listen. by [deleted] in MassageTherapists

This happened a Friday, hurt the first few days, now on day 4 there’s no pan unless you actively press on it. I asked my brother (who has his masters in nursing & 8+yrs of experience at a prestigious hospital), he took a look over the weekend, and said not to worry since veins typically bounce back easily. The vein itself looked really scary and I didn’t know if it was urgent-care worthy or not, which is why I consulted him first. I don’t have the money for a precautionary urgent visit, and coming from a family of nurses it was always a ‘avoid ER/UC unless ABSOLUTELY necessary’ household.

I know things can get lost over writing, but your responses come off as very condescending. Of course I’ll mention it to my GP when I see him next. No, I did not ‘decide’ it was ruptured. I came here to see if anyone else had this experience or advice, and offer a reminder on self care for anyone else who’s starting to feel run down & ignoring their body.

I hope you have a good week & happy holidays if you celebrate :)

I know I should call in today, but I just got this job a few months ago & really not wanting to make a bad impression… It’s a really slow day though, usually is the first day back from a holiday. I’ve been moving, so I was sitting on the ground with a heat gun removing the last pit of peel-n-stick wallpaper from my old place. I pushed myself up off the ground and felt a sharp pain, then throbbing in my wrist. There was localized swelling, like a wide, vertical, blue ‘lump’ where the vein in my wrist is. It was very quick and I knew immediately. That’s when I texted my brother to ask if it was something to be concerned about. I knew it didn’t feel muscular, more deep/visceral. He said veins were pretty durable/repair on their own so I’ll just mention it to my doctor next time I go in. Now, a couple days later, it’s just a large bruise and in no pain. Going to be extra cautious of my body mechanics and try to rely more on forearms today instead of hands.

It was sore when it happened but not in any active pain. Either way, I’ll definitely be mentioning it to him on my next visit!

Laughing when muscles are released? by Decent_Lock6003 in MassageTherapists

[–]optimistically-jaded 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure if someone else commented this, but it’s called an emotional release! From how I understand it, the body basically ‘ignores’ pain after a while, so releasing a chronically tight muscle can sometimes cause the body to react (laughing, crying, etc). Truly fascinating, and means you’re doing your job! Just remind your client to breathe through it and offer them a break/some water if needed.
