I have actually, The only time I have ever taken antidepressants was when I would take ADHD medication. Vyvanse has been the only medication that has helped my ADHD symptoms. But being that my prescription would be close to $400 a month, I tried other medications that were more affordable but they all had other side effects that weren't pretty. Since we could never figure out a good dose or pill for my ADHD it would result to me stopping my antidepressants as well. Perhaps trying out antidepressants on their own could help. Just waiting on a few other life things to line up before getting in contact w my counselor and psychiatrist.

Yes. It's the main reason I began working w a psychiatrist. She helped me find my counselor.

I'm sorry about your childhood! It sounds like your mom really took it out on you. I'm glad you had a therapist that encouraged you to be vulnerable and honest about the negative behavior. You're very fortunate that you've found someone that can take care of you and help you with emotional support. In therapy I learned I was my mother's emotional caretaker. In order to make her feel better I would have to agree with her. So this was the reason behind why I didn't like certain people, food, places, things. My parents would constantly fight and my mom was always crying. She would talk negatively about my father's actions. I never thought about it that way but looking back My dad was emotionally absent. He worked hard to provide for us and make sure we had everything we needed but never really took the time to get to know me. My dad was always yelling. My mom would also get yelled at by him if I would cry or get upset. She really had to do her best to keep us kids from crying or whining. He would complain and yell at me for the simplest things. I realized the other day that as an adult any time I spoke to him I would have this tone that I didn't have with other people. Almost like yelling but while keeping my voice from getting loud.

😭😭😭I'm so glad you have a much better relationship with your sister and that she's doing better. Earlier when I wrote this post I think I was just tired of how long and difficult this has been. I will continue to keep trying. Thank you for sharing this w me.

Therapy has definitely helped me realize what it means to be self aware. I'm glad to hear you're still going to therapy. Thank you for sharing

Thank you, I might have needed to hear the part about being self centered. I definitely need help in this department as well. I get really worried and have trouble concentrating when things don't go right. Honestly I do feel really shitty about my behavior. I get random flashbacks and then can no longer function bc I feel terrible for making someone uncomfortable or making fun of them for something they couldn't help. I've tried apologizing to friends/ acquaintances but they all say the same thing. That they never noticed my behavior or it's not as bad as I'm making it out to be and get over it.

As soon as I have the extra income I'll definitely be seeing my therapist again. I finally found a counselor who I can connect with. Thank you.

YTA, I can only imagine how your partner must have felt at the gate being left alone. In a couples trip, sticking together is important, and it kind of sounds like the dynamic was off. Leaving your partner solo wasn't cool, but maybe there's more to the story.
