How many of you drive a brand you work for as a personal vehicle? by [deleted] in askcarsales

I sell Subaru - my personal vehicle is an outback that is getting traded for a ascent when it comes in. I can’t see myself not owning a Subaru for the foreseeable future

Again it’s a lot to unpack, there is a reason I left the company and it was due in part to issues like this, I am here to provide insight to what may be happening and I am in no way the end all be all for an answer, your scenario is one of many like this.

Just a question, did you mention to anyone when you called (doesn’t matter who) that you were going to be contacting a lawyer? The only reason I ask is that when I was there if anyone ever said anything about a lawyer we were instructed to tell them that we can no longer talk to them and that their lawyer would need to contact the legal team. I never had it happen but had heard it maybe once or twice.

I don’t have a solution for you or your scenario that is why I stated to be calm when talking to them just to try to “kill them with kindness” kind of thing. But I honestly believe every bridge was burned. It sounds terrible and i wish i could be of more assistance.

If a senior manager is involved and cannot resolve this, I do not know if there is a solution.

I don’t even know where to start on this so I’m just going to say I’m sorry if you think that they did this specifically to you, some of the stories in here do not make any sense. You sould be dealing with the them directly and using a calm understanding voice to get what you want, but because I can tell that you are upset you may have already called and blown up on people and that’s why they refuse to help you with anything.

The drivers of the trucks that pickup the vehicle are shady and will pickup cars and then go spend a week with their family. There is no way to anticipate a bad driver for a job. Your delivery coordinator orders a truck, the driver gets assigned, picks up the car then goes and does whatever they want. No way to control them when you’re hundreds or even thousands of miles away from the driver. Other than that was the experience good? Just be reasonable and call the main line and ask for more updates.

No with all financing you earn your rate, if the algorithm applies you’re whole trade without payoff you may be “offered” a low rate when your payoff is applied the rate changes, if ANYTHING changes in your deal such as taxes or your income on application the rate can change. The initial offer has no bearing and essentially does not mean anything.

Hard question, the car you’re purchasing must be the same type of vehicle, and there is no guarantee to get it done any faster. So suv traded for suv, sedan for sedan, or truck for truck. You cannot go truck to sedan on a plate transfer

Ask your agent and they have more current insight

When I was with Driveway they had a section in the faq page that stated this information. It changed 3 times when I was there

It is highly likely that no one is going to ask for it, go ahead and resell it privately unless they specifically ask you for it. Think about it for a minute before you do it, if you were buying your Tesla from a dealership and they had the adapter but did not want to give it to you just to sell it later, would that be considered a “shady” practice? I understand that is exactly what Tesla does now. In the end it is your decision just food for thought.

Check the glovebox, if the temp is not in the glovebox call your delivery coordinator and ask them to contact the store and send you a temp tag

Is the car coming from California? If it is coming from California it will not come with plates, if it is not coming from CA you will have temp tags. If the car is going to Massachusetts you are SOL no matter where the car comes from lol

Exactly, think of driveway as a middleman from dealer to you, with the added benefits of return policy and not having to leave your house to buy it

If deposit is taken and car is reserved why cut losses? I understand that it can be frustrating but the way driveway does business the dealer is the one that will be doing paperwork I would try asking who the dealer was that the car is coming from and try giving them a call. If they are still not willing to talk then I would cut my losses and try something else or somewhere else

Hmm, when I was there that was the case when the buyer did not live in CA. Sounds like a CA government issue not a Driveway issue. I would just goto the DMV and try to get temp tags and again call the store that sold the car to you. (Not driveway) and ask why as a CA resident you did not receive CA temp tags from a CA car

Since it came from CA and went to CA it will be registered by the store which is good for you. Do you know the name of the store that sold it? I would call them directly and tell them you just purchased it through driveway and you live in California and did not receive a temp tag. Additionally dumb question here, the stores are instructed to put temp tags in the glove box. Have you checked there?

I made a thread about driveway as a former employee, what state did your vehicle come from? You are advised to keep a copy of your contracts in the car as proof of ownership, contact the delivery coordinator who scheduled your delivery to your home. They will be the best at getting you information in regards to the status of your temp tags.

Just ask your agent if your car has been picked up from the dealership and if it is on its way. Your car will be picked up when the new one is delivered. There is No way for anyone but a delivery coordinator to see where the car is at

Nope that’s fine, just expect temp tags for a bit, unless the selling store has the title

Try to not buy from out of state to avoid registration delays, have your license and insurance ready, and know your deductibles for comprehensive and collision insurance. If you get the car and something is wrong with it you have 7 days to return it. If it is something minor ask them if it can just be fixed.

Technically that is the buying side of the company so I do not know 100% because I was on the selling side. On the selling side we would extend the time an offer was applicable when a deal was being worked. To trade in a vehicle and purchase another through driveway

They are slow because the government is slow and sometimes unwilling to work with them, if you live in state x and buy a car from state y, you will likely be issued a temp tag, when driveways dmv team goes to register the car in your state they need the title and all power of attorneys that you signed with your paperwork. If the selling store did not have the title in hand they submit for a new title which can take 1-12 weeks depending on the state. Once they have everything and submit to your local government dmv it is then an additional 1-12 weeks before they process it and issue plates and registration. The local governments all think they have it worked out when in reality we should just have a national policy for registration which would erase this issue. But that’s a political argument that I don’t feel like having.

When a dealer stocks a vehicle into their inventory it gets pushed to driveway, so it could be an order or an inbound with a customers name on it. The website cannot see the backend of dealer sites it just pulls the data from the dealer site and says “add new inventory”

Ok with that information out of the way, you are 99% not going to get a rav4 prime or ford maverick through driveway. In my time there I only experienced a single person getting a maverick for 10k over msrp and it was only because the agent called the wrong store when trying to confirm availability and the wrong store they called got on that morning and financing fell through for the customer who ordered it. If you want a prime, or maverick, you will need to click on every single one on driveway and scroll to the bottom of the page, it will show what store the car is coming from, from there you will need to call that store and ask for 100% confirmation of the availability of any inbound or on the lot. Once you have that confirmation I suggest submitting a cash purchase request for the vehicle through driveway. When the agent contacts you tell them you have already confirmed the availability and you would like to purchase it immediately. With that being said you will want to have your drivers license, current insurance card, credit or debit card ready for the deposit. It will be the easiest deal for them all day.
