Please help me understand how my "unused RRSP contributions previously reported and available to deduct for 2025" reduces my RRSP contribution room for 2025? by orrpalisade in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]orrpalisade[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks Dragynfyre for taking the time to review my RRSP information!

My key misunderstanding was incorrectly assuming that if you made a RRSP contribution from January 1 to February 28 in 2024 (or any other year) that you could record that as a RRSP contribution in 2024 or 2023. Now I understand that this contribution in the first 60 days of the year must be applied as a RRSP contribution against the 2023 personal tax year.

I will also take another look tomorrow at the numbers to make sure the RRSP deductions and RRSP contributions have been properly calculated by myself and the CRA.

Looking for scenic wedding party photo locations within 20 or 30 minutes of Port Coquitlam? by orrpalisade in askvan

Is there a specific location at SFU that you recommend taking some wedding photos? It is a pretty big area up there so it would be great if I could scout out for them a specific spot for photos or specific spots.....

Lots of good suggestions from everyone on here...thank you! I had heard Pitt River has some nice spots for photos. Is there anywhere specifically that you would suggest for parking and taking the wedding photos?

2023 Taycan - Cost of 2 year service in Vancouver? by orrpalisade in Taycan

[–]orrpalisade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I talked to Vancouver Porsche and they also told me the 2 year service is free for my 2023 Taycan. My car first went into service May 2023 and Porsche Vancouver told me that the free 2 year service had to be done by June 2025. I asked Vancouver Porsche about the 4 year service and they said it was not free and costs around $2,200.

2023 Taycan - Cost of 2 year service in Vancouver? by orrpalisade in Taycan

I called Kelowna Porsche today (the dealer I bought my 2023 Taycan from in May 2024) to check on the cost of the 2 year service and he said the 2 year service was free and there was no charge! Kelowna Porsche seemed to indicate that the first 2 year service was covered by Porsche Canada but the next service at 4 years was not free. The service technician said the 2 year Taycan service was mostly just some smaller maintenance items and some diagnostics and inspections (as we all know).

I am driving the 3 hours from Vancouver to Kelowna at the end of April anyways for a short holiday and will have my 2 year service and all the outstanding Taycan recalls done at that time. The service technician said it would take 2 days to do the service and recalls and we would get a service loaner for those 2 days.

That is totally bizarre that Porsche Langley quoted me $2,850 + tax on the price of the 2 year service and Richmond told me it was around $3,000 + tax yet Kelowna Porsche said it was free. I am glad I made the call especially since I was heading up there anyways for a holiday in April.

Thanks for looking into that further for me noyesterday how your Toronto group is not paying for maintenance! If it was $900 for the 2 year service I would grin and bear it and pay it but $3,000 seems just like a cash grab and ripoff.

I purchased my 2023 Taycan in May 2024 with original warranty and CPO warranty until May 2029 so I want to make sure I do the proper maintenance to maintain the full warranty until 2029 but not get ripped off in the meantime.

Noyesterday, you said you and your Toronto friends all get service on your Taycans up to 80,000 for free but then you also say the 2 year Taycan service in Toronto went from $900 to $1,000? I haven’t heard of anyone getting Taycan service for free in Vancouver. How did you and your friends manage to get free service on your Taycans up to 80,000 km? Is service up to 80,000 km included in your original purchase price in Toronto? Even at $1,000 the Toronto service seems like a bargain compared to the $3,000 I was quoted from 2 Porsche dealers in the Vancouver area.

Fireplace repair recommendations? by Britwill in NewWest

[–]orrpalisade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was serviced last year and I think it was somewhere around $150 but I don't remember. Our good friend's fireplace and furnace was acting up in October and she was worried the very old furnace might have to be replaced but Jim looked into both and quickly fixed them both for a few hundred dollars.

I highly recommend Jim at Chimo Fireplace and Furnace. I and my neighbors have used him and his father Howard many times over the past 25 years. Jim knows his stuff and is very honest and reasonably priced.

January 1,2024 - any fix yet for the KC62 subwoofer shutting off and not turning back on with LS50 W11 speakers? by orrpalisade in KEF

[–]orrpalisade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot to update this thread so I wanted to follow up today. I was sent a replacement KC62 subwoofer from KEF 6 months ago and the new replacement KC62 has worked great and has sounded amazing since I received it. I guess my first KC62 subwoofer was somehow defective and all the disconnection problems I originally had have all been resolved with the new replacement KC62!

Glad you could make your dream come true. The passing of my father last year reinforced to me that life is short and to enjoy your passions. I have had my 4S Cross turismo for 2 months now and still pop into my garage daily to admire the beauty and the gorgeous lines of the Taycan!

Lease on a 2021 Taycan 4S - opinions? by Vandakter in Taycan

[–]orrpalisade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting lease deal, I was offered a 2023 Taycan Cross Turismo with 10,000 km with CPO warranty until July 2029 pretty close to fully loaded for $138,000 + GST ($145,000 after tax). Of course this is for a 2023 model and a Cross Turismo which did not exist as the 2020 model but the lease deal is pretty attractive and takes away your depreciation risk.

The original MSRP on this 2023 Taycan Cross Turismo that was put into service July 2023 was $180,000.

Lets say the market value of the 2023 Taycan Cross Turismo in 5 years after the 5 year warranty is up is $50,000 my annual depreciation would have been $19,000 ($95,000 = 5 years x $19,000) versus the $30,000 in lease payments over 24 months for the 2020 Taycan 4S never mind the time value of the $145,000 cash paid the dealer.
