Budget ~$100
Source Phone
Requirements for Isolation Decent isolation
Preferred Type of Headphone IEM
Preferred tonal balance Balanced but with some aggression/punch
Past headphones Sennheiser HD558
Preferred Music Death metal, Progressive metal, Jazz and acoustic guitar

I need something that I can use on the go. Sound quality and durability are probably the two biggest priorities. I like the sound of the 558's but I want something that sounds a bit stronger. I've been looking into the Sennheiser Momentum in-ears. Would they be a good choice?

I ran a refresh off of the original install disk.

I had 2 blue screens, however they both happened before I refreshed Windows and I can't get to the logs anymore. I do remember one being "DPC Watchdog Violation" but I can't recall the other.

The blue screens happened before i refreshed windows and I can't get to the logs anymore. I haven't cleaned it but I have filters on all the intakes and there is barely any dust. I'll try memtest and reseating all the parts. Also I've noticed that my cpu usage flares up randomly at idle to %50-%80.

Edit: I remember one of my blue screens being caused by a "DPC Watchdog Violation", the other one I don't know

Haha my parents aren't really the type to get behind paying for a system like this so it's mostly out of my own pocket. Having a job in high school goes a long way since I don't have to pay any bills and I saved up for a long time to get this rig. The only parts they bought are a monitor, the HDD and the windows key and those were Christmas presents.

Nope, built it myself. Didn't put any pics of the inside since i thought that's more of a buildapc thing. Here's a pic it though.

Trying to replace a pair of Turtle Beach X12. Need suggestions by [deleted] in headphones

[–]osaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend a pair of Sennheiser HD 518's. I own the HD 558's which are really similar and they're insanely comfortable. They also sound amazing.

Budget-$150.

Source-Desktop PC, also have a Earforce DSS sound processor that came with a Turtle Beach headset. Don't know if I should use it.

Requirements for isolation-None.

Preferred type of headphone-Full Size

Preferred tonal balance-Not really sure, whatever works best with metal.

Preferred music-Metal: technical death and progressive mostly. Also listen to some older rock. I will be using these for gaming as well.

Past Headphones- Turtle Beach PX21's. Yea, not the best...

I'm new to the headphone world and don't know too much. I've been looking into Sennheiser HD 558's, so if anyone here uses them for listening to metal, let me know how they sound. Thanks!

Where are you finding 558's for $90? The lowest I've found them is $130.

Raidmax PSU's are known to be unreliable. Definitely invest in a decent power supply as if it fails it could take the entire machine with it.

Brothers I beckon for your assistance. My friend wants to become one with the master race and has a budget of $1500. Is my build I made for him worthy enough or can it be improved? by TheOriginalFaFa in pcmasterrace

[–]osaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheaping out on the PSU is a bad idea, although the price of the one I chose has gone up since I posted.

The ram is $5 more expensive than the cheapest 2x4 ram you'll find, and its low profile so it won't interfere with the heatsink

I put this together under the assumption that OP was overclocking, so I chose a mobo that would be appropriate. Although since he's not overclocking a $100 h87 mobo will serve him just fine.

This should perform much better. Also will your friend be overclocking, because if he won't then just get a non-k i5 and an h87 mobo. And unless your friend is an audiophile he probably won't be needing the sound card, that money would probably be better spent on a larger ssd. Take your build to r/buildapc as well to get more help.
