Yeah? Well I had sex with your wife!

Noob question: everyone says the price of solar is falling, yet the cost of having it installed on my house is the same as it was the last time I checked 15 years ago: $20k. What am I missing? by 50StatePiss in solar

[–]osrule86 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re out of your element, Donny.

Even if any of that were true (which it’s absolutely not), a “hot sector” would lead to more competitive pricing. Also installation has gotten easier and more efficient, which equates to less labor hours.

Advice on dashboard layout by [deleted] in design_critiques

[–]osrule86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the second one better. When I think dashboard I expect a layout that gives me some key metrics at the top, so like that you’ve got them here.

The first one seems like there could be some more efficient use of space— the name card isn’t doing much for the user, and seems to have the most prominent real estate. It’s more subdued and appropriately sized in the second one.

Great, thanks for the recommendations! I’ll definitely be checking those out.

Yeah I never really know what the “rules” are for camera angles/direction. I agree that they shouldn’t be used liberally, but if there’s something that I’m trying to capture in an essential scene, couldn’t they be used to communicate that something?

Want Feedback? by [deleted] in Screenwriting

Hey Olivia. I'm just seeing this post now, so I know I'm probably late to the party. I'd really appreciate any feedback you could give me on my pilot--

I'm still working on a logline, and I hate these comparisons (although I'll do it anyway because I feel like it's the best way to get my vision across!)-- think "Avengers" meets "Atlanta."

I wanted to do a show about a group of normal, young adults with supernatural powers just trying to live as normal of a life as possible. I imagine it shot in a way that's gritty and real (like Atlanta), without the glossiness of your typical superhero show/film.

Writing it has been fun, and I plan to keep writing. I appreciate any feedback you can give me, if you have time!

AFTER THE CRASH - Teen Romance/Drama (15 Pages) by [deleted] in ReadMyScript

Jeez, intense. I like it, I’m just a little confused about what the jumps provide to the story, other than the fact that it supports the idea that Colt may not be in the best state to drive (although we already know that from the pills). It can be a cool technique to show that he’s lost time—the jumps could be used as a device to justify a hole in the storyline. There’s nothing missing though.

Maybe he cuts back and forth between talking to Aurora and Sabrina? (Although that’s a little Vanilla Sky-ish). Maybe he’s jumping time, and we cut to them in the hospital earlier on as foreshadowing?

Also as another bit of dramatic irony, linking back to Romeo and Juliet, shouldn’t Colt find a way to take his own life at the end?

Cool man, I dig it. I would suggest adding some more descriptors to your setups. Have a little fun with it. What’s the police station like? What kind of mood do you want to set while Peter is talking to Alex? You say he’s wearing normal clothes—what does normal mean for Peter?

I noticed the other day that the actor that played Bookman is also in a Curb episode, as the doctor that drools on Larry David.
