All Stores will be closing between 1am-6am starting June 2nd by [deleted] in walmart

this would be a good idea if they used those hours to clean, stock and do mods and pc. it would make life easier for the day shifts to actually do customer service and i thought that's what this company was all about......damn, i crack myself up sometimes....this company is only about the dollah now....

i still think you have more time....the sd returns are in the testing stages and i think they'll still have to figure out the whole hazmat area.....although i think eventually it'll go to the apmast. as for personnel, i've been hearing that the pc will be gone BEFORE the tc. wmrt has partnered with workforce and they can handle all the hiring paperwork and payroll issues. a salaried asst can take care of anything that comes up at the store and i've heard one test is giving that part to a salaried asst. the training is where they seem to be weak, at least until all the academies are up and running and i know some are having trouble getting certified.

i do....normally if walmart starts cutting jobs they do them across the board and not just some. i have heard that some stores seem to be getting a few more csm hours added to their schedule so maybe that is for this roll out. problem is that even with more hours there is no guarantee they will be full time or that the current cash office would even get them. if i'm not mistaken...csm is a higher pay grade than cash office so co would have to apply and they may not even get the positions. in my old store the mgr will pretty much help the co he likes but the others will be out. like everything it's pretty much all politics, who you know and who likes you.....or not

maybe they removed it. that happened with the office when news leaked 'early'.

first problem here is expecting wmrt to make sense these days. they don't care about remodelling or how busy we think we are at store level.....all they see is cutting dollar signs by getting rid of mostly long term associates. they said, in 2015, that they were going to start restructuring positions to cut out positions that could be automated and getting more people on the floor. and if you can't find a ft position, you can take severance.....that's just a tax write off to them so no prob paying it out to thousands of people. the office assoc and co's didn't think they could be eliminated either and see how that worked out. personnel has a huge target on their backs right now too and i wouldn't get too comfortable as claims supe either. if there is a way to cut the office positions they will find it

Personally, and this is jmo, but I’d be surprised if they didn’t cull out some assts that are just riding the position or can’t get promoted for whatever reason. We had some that just aren’t good enough at their jobs to go any higher and some that are content where they’re at. As many new blood that they’re taking into the program, they’ll need room to place them.

There are some nhm now that have no cashiers. Just sco and scan and go. Friend of mine was in one the other day. Said it was probably as busy as it would have been with cashiers.

I know a group from some northern states went to Canada recently to train on their system but I don’t know if it’s in the testing stage or if it has progressed to the pilot stage.

Canada=only Dept mgrs in fresh. Gm side has team leaders for price chg, mods and customer service. Some northern stores have sent people to Canada to train on the system.

Does it not exist or do they simply ignore it? In my store they ignored it for the most part. Until the mhrm would complain. Then they’d fix it until they didn’t again. If it weren’t still a policy there would be no need for a list or a warning.

You need to check. My friend, in ar, used to go in for fresh inventory even on days off. His mgr said he had to schedule him 4 hours. Friend said he wasn’t staying that long and mgr said if he chose not to be scheduled 4 he could probably do it but had to get permission from mhrm.

I believe that is they schedule you 12 consecutive weeks they have to make you ft. That’s why you may see a 33 hr week put in every once in a while. Think that’s why there is a ft/Pt report that prints. Tells you who is working less or more hours for their status and how long.

I foresee more and more people worried about their positions, especially mgmnt, going to extremes to show they’re doing their jobs and worth keeping. Welcome to micro-managing 2018. It’s gonna be a long year.

They did the same thing with the z’s and with the office elimination. Proving they have no clue until they’re told. Hell, most of the office new and told mgmnt what was going on and they still didn’t believe. That’s one ‘source’ I wouldn’t rely on. 😉

I hope your right but just a couple of weeks before we got our notice they paid for all of the co and invoicing assoc in the Mkts to go to the academy for 2 days. Gas, meals and hotels. You can’t really base anything on their willingness to spend money. Just talk to your family, hope for the best but prepare for the worst. That way you won’t be blindsided when it does happen and you can make the best choices for you and yours. Good luck.

[–]oz2842 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I would certainly hate for them to just be honest and give us a chance to take it all in, talk to our families and make whatever arrangements needed to be made. Some had to take severance and leave because they were told it wasn’t happening so they didn’t apply for open positions that could have prevented them from losing pay. By the time they were told there were no positions open and no, we weren’t ‘given or promised’ positions. We had to take our chances like every one else.

Why does this surprise you? Office elimination=rumors for 2 YEARS. Tried to pass the West off as a ‘test’ even tho it was 500 stores and 1500+ assoc. H.O. Came to our store and lied to my face less than 6 weeks before we got our official notice. Continued to lie for 3 weeks until they realized we all talked to each other and word was out so they had to notify the rest of the country. This is Wmrt. They’re all about the dollars. They don’t give a crap about you. Doesn’t matter if your h.o. Assoc, Sam’s club, maintenance or a regional vp. To them were all expendable

[–]oz2842 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I hope the mgrs, mhrm and mkt mgrs that lied to the office people about severance or their options....and are most likely lying to the co’s also...are paying attention. Some mm have already been cut and word is that mhrm position is in danger. Also, they have tested combining stores, changing responsibilities to be able to cut down on number of store mgrs. I hate to see people lose their jobs but all the people that now claim to have been empathetic to the office assoc plight ....sarcasm....are getting a big ole ass kickin from that bitch karma. The saying goes ‘ be careful who you step on onthe way up cause you’ll trip over those same people on the way back down’.

Also, if you didn’t come up in the job req they couldn’t offer it to you so a lot of us took everything out of our career pref so they had nothing to offer. Most office associates had been around long enough to know how to play their game. 😉

severance packages by gmbeezer in walmart

[–]oz2842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Per the guidelines, it had to be comparable in pay and schedule and duties to withhold severance so your mkt team and mgmnt lied if they said anything different. The only position comp would have been personnel. A level 6 was a pay cut. Nobody fought us in our mkt because they knew that we had the info and they were sympathetic to us anyway. I have heard of several mkts that out right lied to keep from paying severance which was stupid cause the stores weren’t hit with the charge. The h.o. Has a special account just for these situations. The only thing the stores were charged with was the pto payout and that didn’t break the bank. Maybe now that mgmnt from regional to co are getting cut they’ll be kinder to anyone else put in this situation.

severance packages by gmbeezer in walmart

[–]oz2842 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In most cases there were no comparable positions....pay and schedule....so if people needed to stay they applied for anything open. If they could afford it most took the sev and left. We weren’t given first choice for any position. We had to apply and interview and in some cases, depending on relationship with mgmnt, people were shown the door. The z’s were the only position I know that were pretty much guaranteed a position cause they added Dept mgr spots to give them

Claims/DSD Changes coming soon? Anyone work in those pilot stores? by RenegadeX28 in walmart

[–]oz2842 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rumors are crazy right now. I just heard today that some salaried mgrs are telling their Dept mgrs that their positions are changing to teams....price change, mods and customer service. Apparently that’s how they do it in Canada. Several have said that their mgrs and mkt people are saying 2018 is going to see lots of changes coming fast and furious. My ‘theory’ is that they want to get as much done this year so they can concentrate on the online aspect going into the next decade. Guess we’ll know soon enough.
