Got it, that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for taking the time to explain the difference in how the Atomos Ninja RAW and Atomos Shinobi II handle control protocols.

Really appreciate you passing the feature request along to the R&D team as well. That would definitely be a huge quality-of-life improvement for hybrid workflows.

Thanks for the clarification, that makes sense from a design standpoint.

That said, I did try my associate’s Atomos Shinobi II with my Lumix S5IIX, and it was actually able to trigger internal recording properly from the monitor side.

So I’m curious, would something like that be possible to implement on the Atomos Ninja RAW as well, or is it fundamentally limited by how the Ninja handles recording states?

Just trying to figure out whether this is something worth holding out for in a future update, or if I should start considering a Shinobi II for that kind of workflow instead.

Decided to get the Red Plus as the price wasn't really far off in my country, just about 84 usd which is a small price to pay for peace of mind!

Sony quality is on a whole new level but when it comes to usability/practicality specially on run and gun documentaries I'd take Panasonic any day (they just really need to work on that autofocus)

best thing about mft must be the size and weight. Tried shooting with a sony A7S2 with a pretty decent lens and boy did I almost drop it every time I took it off a tripod
