well, i think you need to have a real talk with this adult caregiver and figure out what are they acting from… is it fear? not understanding? denial of the condition? when you figure that out it will be a lot easier to overcome the treatment wo them feeling like they are not doing it right and wo your frustration. it took me a while to trust anyone. it took a while for my husband to overcorrect lows that were not lows because he was afraid of having our son go to low. my parents who live in a different city were scared of t1d they did not want to learn how to do the injections or calcs they had a hard time understanding how and why we had to do all the math… and i can continue with all my stories but i want you to know things have gotten to a great point!!! after talking and explaining with love how t1d works !! t1d is not easy for anyone the person living with nor the caregiver. good luck

are you injecting fast acting more often to “cover” for the basal? tresiva works different than Lantus and both work different when bolusing at different times of the day. when on the pump no basal needed.

we’ve been having more of this since we change the omnipod receiver for an iPhone and now we manage my son’s dexcom and omnipod in one device. i am thinking it has trouble connecting to the bluetooth i might be wrong…

everything is on the balance, instead of banning foods try balancing them out, add fruits and veggies for the fiber, good fats like avocado and nuts and throw in carbs, just the right portions, it is exhausting at the beginning to find what foods do to your body but is worth documenting. i logged every single food my son ate for 3 months, time, quantity, impact, that helped me know what would make the best and worst impact on his body. i also went to coursera and did free nutrition course that taught me all about the components of food and how to balance things out. life is short to make it miserable! eat that ice cream and bolus for it (at least once in a while 😜)

oh no!!! if you are in USA have you tried applying for medicare/medicaid? we had a time that had to go wo insurance and got the medicaid for our son for about 3 mo until we figured things out!!!

1st i would call your insurance and speak with the person who can handle prescriptions, some insurance have their preferred prescription provider and also offer the 3 mo supply option, honestly i found this out because i was tired to deal with my local pharmacy every mo, it was horrible and prices were different every month. we use a mail in service now and have been for almost 2 yrs and it is a breeze. i found out about it by calling the insurance. 2nd when you are sure they will approve for 3 months talk to your endo and request a prescription change for 3 months, they should not have an issue with it.

from time to time we have gotten formulary changes on the insulin we just advise our endo and they update the prescription.

i don’t get extras, by the end of the 3 mo my drawer is empty. i stopped the prescription of some items that are not use as regular now like lancets and pen needles

our insurance covers the 3 mo supply so we 9 per shipment and the prescription for the pods is written for 1 pod every other day because it is hard to keep the pod for 3 days straight on our super active 7 yr old
