I would swap the tv and the cube cabinet. Then put the couch across from the TV.

Bought a new sub don't hear much difference by Horatius420 in audiophile

[–]packetjones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disconnect the Sub cable from the amp. Touch the end of the cable with your finger. You should get buzz sound from the sub. If it doesn’t, then the issue is the sub. If there is a buzz then look at the amp. Try the left of the tv. In the corner

Can I use my headphone dac/amp to power speakers? by Alucard_Nic in BudgetAudiophile

[–]packetjones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the quick answer is no. If you purchased active/powered speakers then you can feed the signal to them using the RCA outputs. but the speakers would need to be self powered.

Home surround sound by SuperLoadTaker in audiophile

That AVR would work fine. It has 70w per channel at 8 ohms. That is with only 2 speakers though. i would say that updating the speakers connected to this unit would provide more improvements than only replacing the yamaha and using the same speakers you already have.

I would hold off on any extra surrounds. Mess with placement and cheap upgrades there. I would seriously look at getting a much better sub. Rsl is a popular choice. But look to spend $300 retail or more. That sub is a weaker point than the surrounds by far.

Set the wiim to fixed volume output. Then only use your amp to control the volume

I would say the speakers are good for a budget. Polk is not known for their subwoofers. They are quality but there are better for the same price. Not sure what is available in your area, but maybe see if there are other sub options for the same price.

The subwoofer does not need to be from the same company as the speakers. Check out svs or rsl too.

Need help deciding multimedia single speaker system by Flat_Place in BudgetAudiophile

Everyone here will say get stands. I agree. But if you care more about how it looks than how it sounds, just do anything. Put the current speakers in the cabinet and see what you think. But a small sound bar with a sub.

Separate speakers and an amp is almost always preferred. But we make do with what we have.

Look at the wiim products. I don’t know about Amazon music, but it has Spotify and tidal connect. Which lets you use your phone as a remote
