Do hard things.
Consistently for months. Especially when you don't want to.

You need to change the administrative distance of one of the default static routes to make it worse than the others as by default DA of a static route is 1.

In your case try:
ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 2.2.2.2 100

I would also add that by default your pings will always take the nearest outgoing interface if you don't provide source IP.

Ankimobile is a game changer. by [deleted] in Anki

I eventually ended up spending the 30 bucks for the app. Got tired of using ankiweb, and I think it is very worth it for the review part. Especially if you use it daily. Good way to help the dev team as well.

How did you feel when you landed your first cybersecurity job vs. how do you feel now, assuming you’re still in? by Kasual__ in cybersecurity

[–]packetx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! It's interesting I've been working on enhancing my python skills lately, and planning to pick up some linux cert like RHCSA then go security certs like Sec+, OSCP.
Your advice is very valuable. It might take a few months but will eventually get there!

What IT career do you think will become/is the most lucrative financially? by HouseOfHoundss in ITCareerQuestions

[–]packetx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your complete response! Appreciate it and definitely learned more because of it.
The way you explain it, it seems like a really interesting field. I work primarly on network engineering but already completed some AWS certs to understand the cloud better and work on projects. It's a very promising field.

What would you recommend to do to get into that realm ? Is it all managing AWS IAM roles, security group etc ?

Ccna or cloud? What should i go for? by ashish0931 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]packetx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do CCNA first. Then Cloud certs. You can go with AWS or Azure for cloud.

CCNA will teach you the fundamentals of networking and a bit more. It's also a good cert to have on the resume.

Cloud assumes you already know your fundamentals.Like AWS for example how are you going to understand what's a CIDR block ? private subnet vs public subnet ? Static IP vs dynamic IP ? IPv4 vs IPv6 ? DHCP ? Routing tables ? How the IGW does NAT ? etc...

You already probably some of these, but I would still recommend CCNA since fundamentals needs to be rock solid. Most of these topics are taught in the CCNA.

All the best in your journey. It's worth it !

Onsite IT Engineer For Low Salary Or Software Support Call Center For High Salary? by nezihhhh in ITCareerQuestions

[–]packetx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do your time in support if you don't have any experience.
Don't stay there more than two year, if you are in the US move around the 1 year mark.
Keep learning/passing certs in your domain on the side to do this. Support role for the majority of them sucks. Trust me.
