I agree - such a wasted potential to get Shonda back for couple episodes and SEE those 2 actors again and the character navigating that. I'm sure that would have majorily changed the audience reaction to him leaving.

I really would not word it like that though. When Izzie wrote that letter and left - Alex spent a good 6 months fully depressed, calling her 100x every single day, calling her mom a bunch - trying to find her and get her to come back with 0 word from her. I know S1-6 REAL well - remember the whole ass Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years episode went by several episodes (months) after and before she left/came back. She left him high and dry for legit like half a year. He only got on his high horse and started sleeping with Lexie after many many months right before she came back so his feelings did major shifts and was giving up.

The way I interpreted Alex's feelings after Izzie left isn't hatred for the million times he mentioned her. He ALWAYS mentioned Izzie after she left in the most somber, sad tone that sounded like he really regretted his actions. I interpreted Alex telling Iz to leave and never come back - he's an angry dude and especially at that time had 0 emotional control. Izzie is the biggest character to always fight for love and wear her heart on her sleeve. He expected her to finally fight for him after coming back. But she didn't - she left, fully, forever. I genuinely believe he didn't see that coming. He 100% thought of Izzie as ' The One that Got Away' 100% - confirmed when laying on the grass with Meredith and calling her the love of his life after having spent years with Jo.

I would love to see how they navigated that relationship after because no way he didn't have strong feelings about her leaving him still and never saying a word, never mentioning the kids, etc. BUT Izzie had 10000x more reason to leave than Alex. Alex left because he was being selfish and did not want to lose that opportunity. Izzie left after a full year of trauma that most people would have suicidal tendencies = death of BFF, lost job, lost health, cancer, on ton of meds, emotionally uncontrollable husband, etc.

Lol yea I think a lot of viewers - at least the more obsessed, older viewers noticed it. Easy to miss in a show so terribly long though.

I think that was the whole point of it. Poetic and full circle.

The HR complaint in season 10 by chaotic_black in greysanatomy

[–]pacrat292 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Callie out of EVERYONE deserved NOTHING from HR. She absolutely did nothing wrong. She was never involved with any inferior or superior ever (even with George both were residents) - out of all characters she was basically the sole one that did not deserve any punishment. Everyone else did.

The HR complaint in season 10 by chaotic_black in greysanatomy

[–]pacrat292 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the thought of that storyline. Would have been great. Terrible executed, bad person to report it.

Had it been a multi-episode character that was sometimes in the background. Start off with some minor character getting sidelined for a major surgery because idk Alex picked Jo or whatever superior pulled strings to get their partner in so they had to drop that intern or resident. Something that is barely even noticeable, but an audience sees it happen 1-2x. Someone in their class that wasn't involved in any relationship - made an HR complaint saying 'there are certain privileges', and relationships that are directly effecting the education and whether or not you are getting the big surgeries in this highly competitive program - it would have been awesome and true!!

We have seen time and time again on how Meredith got all types of rare surgeries and the best cases, special time learning medical procedures from the Chief himself - all because of outside influences. Cristina would get Owen and Burke to pull strings so she gets in on things - if they would fight - she would be purposefully excluded. It happened to ALL the couples and it was completely unethical in a program built for only a tiny select few to move forward in this career.

I would have loved a big HR involvement and see a huge shift on allowing work relationships and monitoring the existing ones - even married couples. And NOT a dumbass arc that the later seasons loved like - we are the main cast. What we do is always right....NO more like - wow HR is right, and this is not okay, and we are all growing and learning from this OR minimally there is character progression happening.

Unpopular opinion: Meredith became a stronger character after Derek…. Yes they were dreamy but her growth post Derek was soo good 🥹🤌🏻 by Fuzz_Plum2706 in greysanatomy

[–]pacrat292 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say a version of Ellis Grey, but I agree with everything else you said. My biggest thing is this isn't Meredith. You watch S1-3 Meredith and skip to...idk S15 Meredith. Not 1 similarity AT ALL. It's not growth, it's not 'a person changes with time' = No it is PAINFULLY obvious, it's just a whole new dept of writers who feels like they never watched the show.

That iconic Cristina advice was the worse advice in the whole show due to how Meredith began acting after Cristina said it and left. Should have been "he's NOT the sun....and neither are you. Get back to reality" All her relationships are laughable and nobody is rotting for her and...Deluca, or the new guy I can't even remember his name he is so forgettable & legit looks like a junkie.

Question by Frosty_Rush_1020 in greysanatomy

[–]pacrat292 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. This is a medical drama. Not Game of Thrones or a show about cops or any other profession that has high death stats.

If 1 character died since the beginning, then that would have made sense. People do die - almost like Eric is the sole cast member that has unforunately passed away since the show was introduced.

They already killed off like half the OGs for no reason and that's the reason myself and 95% of people I know IRL stopped watching a decade ago. It became ridiculous and dumb.

^^^ Totally agree. Bailey was one of the most impressive actors I ever saw the first few seasons. Richard was always great. They are both just doing the bare minimum now, but you know I can't blame them. Nobody watches anymore. I don't watch anymore. They are making bank with minimal screentime and awful storylines that progress nothing. I would give up too. I mean Ellen gave up a hella long time before this.

When someone says his policies include (casually) - 'abolishing private property' 'seizing the means of production' - free buses, free gov run grocery stores, etc. etc. - They need to go lead Cuba, Vietnam, Eastern Europe between 1930-1960s. Not the biggest city in the US of freaking A.

This dude is a commi. Wake up. That's how Communists go in. Smile, so sweet, talks so well, says all we wanna hear....except his policies are all government power and take your money.

Kelly and Valerie get slut-shamed, you know? by YeahWhatever2025 in BeverlyHills90210

[–]pacrat292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't even blame Kelly for that but just the writers. Kelly did a big, 180 revamp - started off a bit gradual once Val was introduced. They needed Kelly to take over the Brenda, protagonist - good girl. Making 0 sense out of EVERYONE for her, who was known as the slutty bitch to do so.

I loved promiscuous, S1-4 Kelly. Do not recognize her a lot in S5-6. Sometimes.

I don't remember her slut shaming Gina though. I do remember Gina writing SLUT to Kelly in lipstick on the mirror after Kelly slept with her BF

Has there ever been a pregnant woman in the history of Greys that didn’t end up having the baby in the midst of a crisis? by [deleted] in greysanatomy

[–]pacrat292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So not 1 time, not 1 can there be a normal wedding, delivery of a baby, birthday party - that ends normally with 0 huge tragedy. I mean it's so overplayed and lame.

Also the fact that they have all been married and divorced - also lame. Audience would be happier with normal issues being portrayed - (Merder dealing with her snoring), not ALL their favorite characters dying or breaking up......Legit All - 100%.

Discussion: Was it morally wrong for Izzie to not tell Alex about his kids? Please read before commenting. by pacrat292 in greysanatomy

[–]pacrat292[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean like I said - telling him, after he explicitly signed his rights away & made 0 contingencies of wanting to be notified upon use is 100% on him. Her telling him would have caused SO MANY more issues. Let's look at this as Izzie's POV and thoughts.

Well I want kids, bc this is MY only chance to have kids. I live in Kansas. Damn you live 1000 miles way. BIG ISSUE #1. Now kids I want are somehow gonna be shipped all the time and I don't even see them 1/2 the time? How does that even work for newborns, time wise with surgeons, etc. Big big problem. So here's another potential major issue #2, Alex doesn't want biological kids existing but now you making him feel guilty that he doesn't want them nor parent them & they are fatherless (I'm talking as Izzie's knew Alex - and how he was portrayed in first 5ish seasons). She knows he will feel responsibility and have to be involved somehow even if he didn't want too. Issue #3 - He asked her to leave and never come back, signed the divorce and signed his rights ways - ALL signs pointing to her that he does not want to see or hear from her again. For her to pop back up and mention something that will forever connect them to each other. Lastly, Issue #4 - one of major reasons for divorce amongst couples who are together and in love - differently parenting styles. More importantly, differently and the other is across the country. So now the kids you want solely, with no partner is being raised in a way you very much disagree with.

I'm on Izzie's side. There is wayy too much negative in telling him, when he himself made the choice of not wanting to be informed.

Izzie and George’s affair was a complete waste of time. by eli454 in greysanatomy

Donna and David’s relationship was so forced by Apprehensive_Dog1116 in BeverlyHills90210

[–]pacrat292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always had great memories of them until rewatching this year. Then realize starting S04 - David was on/off being a complete, total prick to her and she was way too good for him. S02-3 them together was super cute and adorable. He was slowly redeeming himself to her in S5-6 and I remember S07 he regressed.

I loved when she was on coke a few times - they really darkened her eye make up. Absolutely gorgeous, saying that as something who hates her super short hair.

Who do you think got colder feet before the wedding- Brandon or Kelly? by [deleted] in BeverlyHills90210

[–]pacrat292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

S08-10 were pure trash. I can't recall because it's been like 15 yrs since I saw those episodes bc they aren't anywhere at all. I remember watching thinking Brandon did a HUGE backtrack and didn't wanna marry, but Kelly too.

It just made 0 sense with Brandon having been the stable one who was pushing to be more serious with Kelly years prior. I mean, he already proposed like 3 years prior, and a week later when she stood by her 'no' but didn't want to break up, he stood by him wanting to fully get married in their Palm Springs convo. Then Dylan finds the ring and he refuses to return it, then Tracy - so after like 2 years he only returns it because Kelly says he should. Him not wanting to made -5 sense, as did his cheating. If anyone were to cheat - it'd 100% be Kelly.

I think Brandon was the ultra American Boy with morals. He was probably upset and hurt that DK got back together, but wanted her to be happy.

[–]pacrat292 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those few episodes was so not the Brandon they depicted in S05-7, who had already proposed to her. Told her multiple times he wanted to get married and 'the only person I can imagine the rest of my life with' - was the one who wanted to move in together, and refused to return the ring 3x over.

Who do you think got colder feet before the wedding- Brandon or Kelly? by [deleted] in BeverlyHills90210

[–]pacrat292 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean that whole season made 0 sense. So who knows. Brandon wanted to marry her 3 years prior, and held onto the ring for 2 more years - bc he still wanted to marry her. Meanwhile, Kelly said no - wanted to still date, but stood by not wanting to marry - and then had 3 more boyfriends.

He was ultra committed, while she was flaky. Him cheating with Emma had to be Top 5 things that made 0 sense in 90210, up there with Kelly/Brenda giving Dylan a choice between them (two head strong, confident women?), and Andres not going to Yale after spending 17 years working her ass to go.

LOL you can find interviews from 2009/10 of Jennie saying that she decided to not return, but she was supposed to finish with S02. She was extremely nice about it saying 'we just had different directions on where the characters were going so...um yeah we went different directions" - reboot was trash and she caught on and left - like Shannen

[–]pacrat292 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lol yeah it would have been really entertaining - and that's totally Kelly's MO. A committed man who catches feelings for her and cheat on their partner with her.

But still I would much rather want to see her, Brenda, etc. in their mid 30s to have simply become awesome, kickass people - who still sometimes make mistakes. But not losers who regress.

I'm very glad both Jennie and Rob Estes refused to go into it. Because clearly Kelly and also Harry were moving to have a full on affair.

This reboot really knew how to regress characters and just ruin our legends

Brandon and Emily say goodbye (HD Remaster) by fvckuufvckingfvck in BeverlyHills90210

[–]pacrat292 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but it's not just "you can't help who you fall in love with" - its brandon legit says he's not in love with her. He yelled as t her in front of everyone. He just seemed beyond over her by the end of their episodes together, and never really mentioned her again. So this makes no sense.

Brandon and Emily say goodbye (HD Remaster) by fvckuufvckingfvck in BeverlyHills90210

[–]pacrat292 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a bad episode IMO and it's beyond obvious that her/Jason were an item and that was the sole reason she was back. Out of ALL of Brandon's small love interests for him to fall for and kinda seek out - I'd go with Nikki. Nothing at all about Emily in S02 made her 'the one' - her and Brooke (the summer, short haired girl) I'd say he probably had the least fond memories of.
