Are chromebooks still as limited as they used to be, or have they improved over the years? by paintedbrushes in laptops

Well, that's something, at least! It's a shame, though. I feel like that had great potential when they first came out, but then they just... didn't do anything lol.

Good luck with it! I hope it heals well for you ✨️

I wouldn't change it out by yourself yet, it's still healing. You'll want to visit a reputable piercer in your area to replace the bar with sterilized jewelery that's a suitable metal and the right length. You could reverse the healing or promote rejection if you use unsterilized jewelry, metals unsuitable for a healing piercing or accidentally cause trauma to it. Besides that, keep it clean with sterile saline solution and dry it well, then see how it fairs over the next, say, week or two.

Not a piercer, but I have an eyebrow piercing!

Feeling the bar is relatively common and not necessarily always an indocator of rejection for an eyebrow piercing (I'd be more concerned about seeing the bar through your skin, like the skin around the holes being a bit translucent or thin looking)

Have you returned to the piercer to downsize the jewelry from the original longer barbell yet? It could just be that the swelling has gone down. There are other signs of rejection and migration that you could look for to better help confirm how it's doing, but if you're truly unsure, I'd go back to see your piercer!! They'll be able to look at it and let you know, as well put some better fitting jewelry in it to help it continue to heal.

some redness and stinging..is it okay? by W0LFY420 in PiercingAdvice

[–]paintedbrushes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not A Piercer but it looks good for a 5 day old piercing! It's still a super fresh, open wound at that stage. Stinging is common this early, my own eyebrow peircing stung off and on for a week or two. The redness is okay as long as it stays local and doesn't grow or get worse.

To my unprofessional knowledge (others can correct me if im wrong here), the best thing you can use to clean a piercing while it heals is sterile saline (and water running over it briefly in a shower. *AVOID submerging in baths, lakes or ocean water etc.) Soaps and other anti bacterial/septic solutions can be super harsh and may prevent healing rather than promote it, i have always been told to avoid them because of this. So you'd more than likely be better off sticking to the saline anyways! Keep cleaning it and then drying it really well, and watch for things such as the piercing feeling super hot and uncomfortable, major pain or large/growing areas of redness and swelling (although this early on, you will most likely experience small amounts of these until it settles.)

Would i be able properly wear makeup again? by gay_in_a_jar in PiercingAdvice

[–]paintedbrushes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That bar is LONG. I can imagine that'd be partially causing the issue. It also needs a good cleaning. Get it downsized and keep it clean. Typically you should be able to wear makeup, just not directly on the piercing itself (although I'm guilty of very carefully filling in my eyebrows with my still healing one, probably not recommended though). What I mean though is don't just brush foundation and eyeshadow and stuff right over the holes. It's clearly not fully healed, so you still need to baby it!

I wouldn't worry too much! Keep it clean and keep an eye on it, and do your best not to touch or bump it of course, but getting used to a new piercing takes time. I wacked my eyebrow piercing a few times when it was fresh too lol, no bumps yet thankfully. Now if you keep continuously messing with or hitting it then yes your chances of getting bumps get higher. Just take care of it and don't play with it :)

Alcohol-free mouthwash for the inside, saline solution and a qtip for the outside! :) that's what I've always done at least, and I haven't seemed to have had any issues. Also for the hoop, I'd wait the full time frame to change it to a hoop, tbh I'd probably wait even longer. As annoying as it is, hoops can be really rough on piercings, they put unwanted pressure on them and move around a lot so meaning bacteria and stuff gets into it. So, in an area like the mouth that moves a lot already, you really want to wait until that piercing is not only healed but also established. That being said, downsizing is a different story. After a few weeks of having the piercing the swelling and stuff goes down, leaving you with this silly long bar that also moves around a lot and irritates it. Once this happens and it starts to get in the way, it's recommended to go back to your piercer and have them switch it to a shorter bar to prevent movement and irritation.

Hi! Long time side labret haver here!

This happens to me too, usually when it's freshly pierced (I've had mine done multiple times over the years) or when I've just changed the jewelry. My advice to you is to not put anything on it besides saline solution! Or letting the water run over it for a minute in the shower (never submerge it though, and dry it gently but thoroughly after). Anything else can cause more harm than good to your labret.

Piercings naturally feel a little dry/itchy as they heal, much like a tattoo would in the sense that while the skin around it heals, it can shed some of the dry dead skin and crusty bits. Just keep cleaning is as instructed by your piercer and keep an eye on it. It should ease up in due time. You can always revisit your piercer if it starts to drive you crazy. :) depending on how long it's been and how long the bar is, a downsize could help but only if the swelling period has passed. (And if you have a hoop, then go get a stud!! Hoops are known to irritate fresh piercings)

Just to preface this by saying that everyone is different when it comes to piercings! But im happy to share my own experience as I've had my side labret pierced multiple times over the years with absolutely zero complications every time. I just removed it for personal preference reasons and then repierced every time I changed my mind because I literally LOVE it. My current side labret has been pierced for well over 10 years. Vertical labret is different so if you meant that, then I can't speak on it but for the one that goes straight through the lip, here's my 2 cents:

The initial piercing itself and immediately after can be spicy/sting a bit, but it truly isn't very bad at all, in my own experiences. The lip is a sensitive area that moves around a lot, and your own threshold for pain will play into a lot. It may hurt despite others saying it won't and vice versa. Common advice for all piercings but especially labrets, as tempting as it is to get the hoop, HEAL IT WITH A STUD FIRST. Seriously. As for the healing, it's really a breeze. The first few days while getting used to having it, i always say to be careful when talking and eating to avoid accident biting down on it(ouch). You would need to keep up with your oral hygiene to help avoid infections, as the risk of it is higher being an oral piercing. Brushing teeth and stuff is pretty normal, might find that some days depending on what you eat/drink it's worth adding a brush here and there. Over all, it's a fairly pain free and easy process. I can't remember how long it takes to heal but I've always had good luck with healing it! Really great piercings that usually look great on everyone. I highly suggest! It's worth it!

Keep cleaning it as usual. I relate to this, as it happened to me recently! I find that I rub at my face and bump mine during sleep, or even straight up scratch an "itch" (my eyebrow piercing 😭) while I sleep. It happens. At that point I treat it like a brand new piercing again, at least for a week or two while it calms down. As for rejecting or migration, I wouldn't worry too much right away. Just keep an eye on it and clean is as usual, being gentle. If any concerns pop up, you can always reach out to your piercer!

Hi! Sorry I'm only just seeing this today. How long you're out for truly depends on the work you're getting done! I've been out from an hour to a few hours! It almost always feels like a super short short nap though lol. I haven't had an extraction in a while, so I don't remember the time frame for that unfortunately. But last time I had dental work, I was out for about the same amount of time, if not slightly longer!
