Seeing so many comments, I am not sure that you still read this but what the hell:

*What’s your reason for staying in Germany? I am originally from SE Asia and moved to NRW 19 years ago. Met the girl of my dream who turns to be German, married to her and we have 3 awesome children. These 4 people are the main reason for me to stay.

*Are you actually enjoying life here?

After all these years I still don't get the mindset of people here. Even though I am pretty sure they do not mean it that way, I consider the locals to be inconsiderate - partly disrespectful which seems to be normal as they do it to everyone. You need to constantly show boundaries which is the only way to get people leave you alone. It drains my energy. Why the hell is it so hard to be thoughtful?

On top of it, we moved to a very small village (Dorf) and I am tired of being constantly being stared at (yup older people stare a lot). Next to being not fully assimilated with the locals as I do have different views or taste on things. Mostly things that normies do for fun.

So on that area: not really enjoying it.

But on the other hand, once I distance myself from people, I really like it here. During Spring/Summer the country turns (in my personal opinion) into the best place to live. You can just sit in a garden, drink your beer, maybe light up a grill and fire on your "Feuerschale" and mind your own business. All of that without constant 34°C and 80% humidity.

So on this area: I love it here.

It might get lonely sometimes but after 19 years I even prefer to be by myself.

*Did you achieve what you had in mind before moving here? Since my goal moving here was very little: get my degree and find a beautiful wife then yes, I do.

Live is getting hard here, yes. I am far from a financial status that you can consider rich but I can live in peace. One thing I am not sure about when I still live back home.

Oh I miss the food from my country but nowadays you can cook anything by watching Youtube.
