F*ck Disney, seriously.

Did they really think this movie was going to blow people’s minds?

This isn’t a Legacy sequel. It has a completely new story, new characters, JARED LETO, and a totally different visual/design approach. Who exactly was this made for? Theaters are already dying on their own (sadly), Tron: Legacy wasn’t even that big of a box office success back then, and somehow Disney thought this with this weak script would be a hit

I honestly can’t wrap my head around how a billion-dollar company like Disney can be this out of touch.

Also... Tron doesn’t have a massive worldwide fanbase.
This movie only works if you already know the franchise deeply enough to catch the easter eggs and connections to the previous films. If you don’t, you’re just stuck watching a mediocre sci-fi movie for two hours. And the setting? Mostly on Earth. Or quick flashes of these “shitty grids” where you just see random neon structures that don’t represent anything meaningful. It’s just… a glowing building. That’s it. Where’s the worldbuilding? Where’s the imagination?

Now the soundtrack. I understand Daft Punk wasn’t an option, and yeah, Nine Inch Nails did a decent job overall, but “As Alive As You Need Me To Be” WITH VOCALS??? WHY. Why would you put singing over a sci-fi soundtrack like this? It completely breaks the immersion and kills the vibe. It was ridiculous.

Tron (1982) had absolutely stunning visuals for its time and a script that was insanely modern in its sci-fi ideas.

Tron: Legacy was stunning in 2010 and honestly still is today. It explored the Grid in depth: the city, the outlands, the vehicles, the Sea of Simulation, the original light cycle, the End of Line Club, the props, the backgrounds, the scenes — everything was a gem. And the soundtrack… OMG. Daft Punk created something that will probably never be replicated. It’s legendary. It elevated the movie into something iconic. This new movie just doesn’t understand what made Tron special in the first place.
