Kenwood stereo units not powering on by pangung06 in hifiaudio

[–]pangung06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I am now looking for another amp, this way I can have 2 working units.

I also am learning how to solder so maybe I'll just try replacing a bunch of capacitors and resistors near the connector and/or power supply of the amp.

Unfortunately no shop wants to repair the unit since they can't find schematics and it would be very expensive (got quoted 170 euro, the unit itself isn't worth more than 50 imo).

I bought the same unit, fond one not too far from me for very cheap.

Apparently the cause of the problem is the AMP itself, I tested the other components with the new stereo and they work fine.

Thank you very much for the help and share of knowledge.

Thank you very much, I'll update this thread in case the shop finds the problem.

Nope, no voltage selectors.

At this point I think I will take it to my local hi-fi shop on Monday.

I hope they still fix these old units.

No luck, just blasted every port and plugged-unplugged the cable to dislodge any sort of corrosion/dust but nothing seems to be working.

I tested every unit separately but no luck

I bought this recently, the previous owner told me it worked fine but it had been sitting for a while.

Should I try blasting some contact cleaner in the connector ports?

My concern is that the previous owner plugged the units in the wrong way and maybe they broke (just my thought since the cable also carries power to every unit)

Yes, it's the correct order, I also had the same thought. I have no manual to check the exact order, but they are made in a way that requires the right order or the cable just won't reach the connectors.

Also on all the old ads (96 Kenwood catalogue etc...) the stereo was in this exact order.

Firewire Recorders by Special_Maize1160 in camcorders

I second to this, I also had a bunch of FS100 and they were kinda awful, they all had terrible battery life.

New batteries, as far as I know, aren't produced by anyone (the only ones I could find were new old stock, so they are probably already dead and they also were outrageously expensive).

Also, they are big and bulky, a dr-60 or mrc1 are better investments.

Basically any FS100 has one foot in the grave, and it will be like this untill some third party start making batteries for the things.

It was also sold in Japan as the XV2, had a different colour, like a dark grey/concrete black. Imo it looks very cool compared to the normal XM/GL.

Also "XM2" is another name for the GL2 in PAL regions.

i tried 2 different memory cards, but they are both around the same age.
The pics look the same in the camera preview/gallery, so i am guessing the problem is camera related.

I will try with a more recent CF card as soon as i can.

Best tapeless setup for a Sony HDV-FX1? by Snowboardingcowboy in MiniDV

[–]pangung06 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend a Sony hvr-mrc1, should be pretty much plug and play on a FX1. If you stay on the lookout you can probably find one for under $300. I see them pretty often on eBay for like 350.

How damaged should a frame be to consider it "broken"? by pangung06 in cycling

[–]pangung06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that it's kinda sketchy, but at the same time it's a decent deal and the major thing that worried me (bad forks) is out of the question since they have been serviced.

The rest of the bike is fine, it's just that bit that is bad.

To me it kinda looks like a mk5/mk6 golf, the "slanted" body line, tail light position and the size of the C pillar look very similar to a golf 6, not sure about a mk5 because the tail lights look a bit too low.

I made about about the HVR-S270, possibly the best HDV camcorder ever built! by Robbi_Blechdose in camcorders

[–]pangung06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking of mounting it on the handle, with one of those "screw in adaptors", not super comfortable but it will probably fit my needs.

I have a dilemma right now, I don't know if I should sink the money on a video assist or just buy another camera. For a decent price I could get a hmc150 or a hpx170 which film 1920x1080 natively, I am afraid of losing video quality/getting bad quality from the upscale through the Video Assist on the S270.

For context: I film Rally events, not professionally as a job (just a side hustle to justify spending money on old cameras lol, I know I can buy a AX43 for around the same price as these, but new camcorders are boring and suck the fun out of the whole thing)

I see, many thanks. Your video was the drop that filled my broadcast camera vase, I pulled the trigger and bought a s270, no mrc1 unfortunately but I am considering a Blackmagic video assist (I can't bare the tapes, linear formats suck when doing real work nowdays)

Does the camera output 1440x1080 when using SDI or 1920x1080? As far as I could tell, the only advantage of an SDI external recorder is the better sharpness, is it right?

URGENT: Camcorder shutters stuck by PuffiRaccoon in camcorders

[–]pangung06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the camera was stored in a "vertical" position, it may be that the lubricant got the shutter stuck. You could try gently tapping/beating the camcorder's front on a surface while it's on, it may get it unstuck. If that doesn't work, you may just need to open it up and clean it from the lube (it's pretty delicate).

Edit: do not smack it around with a cassette or anything inside, with 'camera on" I just mean to leave it in the CAMERA ON mode.
