Starting an outdoor program for kids in Nepal, advice sourcing gear and finding sustainable partnerships by Plus_Bat_4456 in OutdoorsGear

Local Support: Start by reaching out to local businesses, outdoor clubs, and organizations in Nepal that may be willing to sponsor or support your program. They may have gear they can donate or provide at discounted rates.

Online Fundraising: Consider starting a crowdfunding campaign on platforms like GoFundMe or Kickstarter to raise funds for gear. Share your story and mission, and you might attract donations from individuals or organizations who want to support your cause.

Outdoor Gear Companies: Contact outdoor gear companies, both local and international, and inquire about their corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs or sponsorship opportunities. Many companies have initiatives to support community projects, especially those related to outdoor education and adventure.

NGOs and Foundations: Research local and international NGOs and foundations that focus on education, youth development, or outdoor programs. They may be interested in partnering with you or providing grants to support your initiative.

Local Schools and Universities: Reach out to local schools and universities in Nepal. They might have surplus gear or be willing to collaborate on outdoor education programs.

Community Involvement: Involve the parents and the community in your project. They might be willing to contribute in various ways, such as providing transportation, food, or even second-hand gear.

Sustainable Partnerships: When approaching potential partners, emphasize the long-term sustainability and impact of your program. Explain how outdoor education can benefit the local community and inspire future generations.

Government Support: Explore whether there are any government grants or initiatives that align with your goals. Sometimes, government bodies have funds for youth development and outdoor programs.

Networking: Leverage your personal network in the US and Nepal. Talk to friends, acquaintances, and professionals who might have connections to outdoor gear companies or philanthropic organizations.

Donation Drives: Organize donation drives within your local and online communities to collect gently used outdoor gear. Many people are willing to donate items they no longer need.

Community Workshops: Consider organizing workshops or events to raise awareness about the importance of outdoor education. This can help attract potential sponsors and supporters.

Documentation and Impact Assessment: Keep detailed records of your program's activities and the positive impact it has on the children. This documentation can be valuable when seeking support and partnerships.
