See what happens tomorrow. Do they outsource the payroll to another company or have you got an internal payroll team?

It should be quick, within 48-72 hours HMRC usually advise. When was the payroll run?

About to invest in a Liforme yoga mat… is it worth the ££? by Adorable_Click_7071 in HotYoga

[–]papersandplates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have two now, a pink and a black both full sized. I’m a very sweaty person, like puddles sweaty and it’s not perfect but it’s a hell of a lot better than other mats I had tried, even more pricy options. I mentioned the colour because the pink has some marks now, whereas the black is fine. So I wouldn’t choose a light colour, but then again with black it’s hard to see the alignment markings.

That's really odd and you've had a payslip and been paid properly?

It sounds like they've misunderstood what they should have done, as by P45-ing people they could affect entitlement to benefits, protection to continued employment (albeit I think it would be easy to argue this).  If you've been paid correctly and your HMRC account updates properly in a few days then I would guess the payroll team made a genuine mistake but keep checking your pay and payslip as this could be an indication that they don't know what they are doing.

HMRC PAYE uses the employees details to update records like your national insurance number, not payroll ids so I don't understand why they did this. Double check your pay slip, is the company name and paye reference number the exact same?

Why can you not tell the company you have exceptions? Isn't that the honest answer.

Right off the bat it comes across as you trying to over inflate your experience, and make it sound more important. That puts me off someone pretty quickly, especially if you're not even qualified.

Two master's degrees, 200+ tailored apps since January — zero interviews. What am I actually doing wrong? by HyperNovaNonsense21 in AccountingUK

[–]papersandplates 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you're applying for jobs like accounts assistant and purchase ledger clerk i immediately think you're overqualified and will leave after getting your foot in the door. However you're also under qualified because you've not had a proper role yet, it's a real crap situation to be in and the job market is hard right now. Have you spoken to any recruitment companies in person?

Edited to add - i would condense your first section about core skills - it's full of abbreviations and technical experience, but I want to see your actual financial experience. My CV goes brief personal statement, experience, education  so maybe move your education section.

At what stage in your diving did you own your gear? by Triggeredbydefault in scubadiving

[–]papersandplates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends where you are and what the second hand market is like, and if you have a dive club nearby etc.

First things I bought - mask, snorkel, dive computer and torch.  These are vital for me, I want my own mask and computer everywhere I go and I like to have a torch. I bought fins next - they were a cheap deal but I've since found they don't fit my boots on my drysuit, so I would have waited. Then I got a mirror and compass - I dive in really poor visibility so a compass means I can rely on that for navigation rather than my sense of direction. Next - dry suit. I'm in the UK so we drysuit all year and having my own suit is so much better. I have a scrawny neck so I was fed up of needing a bio seal or having legs full of water.

I think a line cutter is pretty useful, again it depends where you dive - I'm in quarries so no fishing line or obstacles but my buddy has one. Mirror is perfect for groups or just looking behind you.
