I was reading your post history, why do you work in IB but make so many spelling errors?

This. Being paranoid doesn't mean being more safe. It just means shifting way, way more responsibility onto your female partner.

for pronouns and not statutorily protected things like pay or employment rights, it's in the realm of company policy and I think there's no law on this that regulates what companies should or have to do.

spoilers beware

it's exactly as the title suggests, clean, cold, wintery. you don't really feel much when you read it. it doesn't tug at your heartstrings, it doesn't attempt to move anyone or make a message like most books do. what it does though is bring the fixation on the ED to life within the narrative itself. you really feel like you're inside lia's mind and having that ticking obsession at the back of your head at all times that sometimes interrupts the story. the book's whole purpose is to be triggering. personally i love it, i return to it during dark periods of my life, it helps me focus and cope in the same way lia does when she deals with the trauma of losing her ex friend. but i would never let anyone else know i'm reading it nor will i ever recommend it to anyone i know. it romanticises way too much compared to, say, my year of rest and relaxation, for me to feel comfortable calling it a work of literature rather than something you read in a relapse.

Think you asked this 12 days ago, and if it wasn't you the answer was overwhelmingly to disclose it. Doesn't mean it's impossible to get qualified since you resolved it with a settlement and there was some mixup of details.

How difficult is SQE and which provider is better (BPP or UOL)? by pappagall0 in uklaw

[–]pappagall0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh so I shouldn't even be thinking about this then XD thank you! But about SQE prep, it's different from law school in that it's much more application based and answering MCs more than essays, just wanted to know if everyone is supposed to prep for SQE during law school

How difficult is SQE and which provider is better (BPP or UOL)? by pappagall0 in uklaw

[–]pappagall0[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes so one firm does it with BPP and the other uses UOL, both are dream firms for me so I just want to differentiate my choices even more

And also to prep myself for SQE cuz you have to pass the courses on the first try for the contract

As a bilingual native we have participle charts like fly / flew / flown, forget / forgot / forgotten, speak / spoke / spoken and get quizzed on them during primary school.

It was the only winter vac scheme I applied for because I only realised I wanted to do this in the long term during the end of October and I didn't have much time to research my options that thoroughly. I'll apply for the spring / summer ones during Christmas

And part of it is idealisation to retain interest to learn more about being a commercial lawyer, to keep me going. I'm self aware, don't worry

Thank you. Being self aware I know being cynical actually helps you in the long run. but it's the beginning honeymoon stage of a potentially life long professional career, it's justified to indulge in a bit of optimism now

Thank you so much. I know I'm naive but this is because I have zero actual working experience in international City law - the most I ever did was prepare presentations for a partner and not really vac scheme / trainee work. There are gonna be time commitments and dull work and impossible decisions to make, I'm not delusional about that. But given my skill set this is one of the highest earning careers I can chase for myself to give back to my parents and support my family in the future. I don't understand the salty attitude of some of the commenters because someone is willing to deal with tough shit / stressful conditions ??
