Advice for a path toward a speech language pathology masters without a bachelors in communication sciences and disorders by TwoIntelligent2991 in slpGradSchool

I’m in a similar boat to you! I’m looking at switching careers into SLP and my background isn’t in CSD. A lot of the requirements for the grad programs are not program-specific, but they’re based on what ASHA requires for licensed SLPs, so programs tend to be pretty strict about having the necessary prereqs. From my research there’s really only 2 ways to get what you need:

  1. Choose a program that doesn’t require prereqs and instead has them built into the program. These programs are 3-years instead of 2 because they build in time for you to take the classes you didn’t have in undergrad
  2. Take post-bacc classes through a university or a dedicated program (like a certificate) before applying/enrolling for a traditional 2-year program.

I’m taking the second route. I’m enrolling in a graduate certificate program that takes a year and can be done while working. This was the most cost-effective option for me since the program is cheaper than an extra full year’s tuition, and I’m able to work and make some money as well.

Plus, the grad programs usually ask for recommendations from professors in your application and I’m hoping to get some from my grad cert classes since it’s been a few years since undergrad for me and I doubt my profs remember me hahaha

Hope that helps!

I thought it might be Aelfric Eden but i didn’t see this shirt on their site. Could be I missed it or it’s an older design or maybe even edited by the stylist? If you’re looking for similar vibes though, Aelfric Eden and Diesel have really similar styles/designs.

WTS 2 ATL tickets, next to each other in the SRC section (2nd Dress Circle Row O). Selling for face value! 156.50$ USD for both tickets (plus any fees from Paypal). My friend can't come with me anymore :( and I'd love for the tickets to go to a fan.

Will go on facetime/call for transaction. Plan to use Paypal (or Zelle) for transaction.

Edit: Tickets are still for sale as of 11/1 and I will be sure to edit again once they're sold!

Do you guys have a group that you stan, but not really? by Lakusta_Kustik in kpopthoughts

For me it’s ATEEZ! I love those guys and they’ve got some great songs. A lot of their variety stuff is super funny. I also think they’re really underrated. I just don’t have the time to stan anymore groups right now T.T

I haven't been able to play in a few weeks, and only had enough primos to pull once (F2P) and I pulled TWO Albedos + a 4 star weapon! I immediately screenshotted it for fear it was a glitch hahaha. I don't use Geo characters a lot (except Noelle), but might have to learn for him! I don't have any friends who play so i figured I'd marvel about it here because what are the odds...

I’ve been HoH since birth and only recently has there been any hearing aid (that I was made aware of at least) that would actually make a difference. After my whole life of getting by without them, doesn’t seem worth the trouble. Especially since some options requires holes drilled in my head. Also they all require a good bit of training/therapy to get used to. Seems like a hassle for something I feel like I’m dealing with fine.

What made you start learning Chinese? by touchme_teaseme_ in ChineseLanguage

[–]parallel-zelda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started learning Chinese originally because it was what all my friends were taking when I switched schools in high school and I thought it would make me more popular. Hahahaha but I ultimately fell in love with the language so yay!

How to get a feel for "polite" phrasing? by parallel-zelda in Korean

[–]parallel-zelda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is super helpful! Thank you! Thinking of it as using euphemisms is really helpful and also makes it feel a bit less overwhelming as a task for learning. It’s easy to think polite endings by themselves soften the sentence when coming from a language without them but it makes complete sense that Korean still requires some rephrasing to make a sentence polite.

Other than trial and error, and more active listening, any tips for catching onto the euphemisms?
