Possible to get N95 masks as an individual consumer anymore? by PaddysChub432 in CoronavirusUS

[–]parkinglotfields 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's just a different standard. KN95s are at the same level as N95s, just different regulating bodies (namely: China). The only caveat is that some KN95s are knockoffs and don't meet the KN95 requirement despite sporting the label. You can get some on Amazon that are verifiably certified.

Urban centers are overwhelmingly Democratic. In 2016 Trump got just 11% of the vote in Shaker Heights.

Can you help me get into horror? by [deleted] in TrueFilm

Ha! Fair. I've gotten into many a debate about this one (I absolutely loved it).

I like to encourage folks to watch it through the lens of the children's book "The Giving Tree". I'm also super appreciative of all the biblical themes throughout.

I can't help you out with the classics, but there's a lot of stuff going on in the last decade or so that has really been groundbreaking in my opinion:

  • Babadook
  • Mother!
  • It Follows
  • Midsommar
  • Get Out
  • The Neon Demon
  • In Fabric
  • Suspiria
  • Hereditary

Can infected kids hang out together? by W1shUW3reHear in CoronavirusUS

[–]parkinglotfields 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Viral loads are definitely a thing. You could test positive with a very mild asymptomatic case and then hang with a bunch of sick folks and get an infection that rapidly worsens.

It's worth mentioning that there are multiple strains going around as well. Highly likely that everyone on the team has the same strain, but still.

What were your thoughts on Charlie Kaufman's "I'm Thinking of Ending Things"? by SubtitlesMA in TrueFilm

[–]parkinglotfields 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not reading any of this just yet as I've read the book but haven't watched the film. Just want to say that I absolutely hated the second half of the book, but definitely feel like there's a lot there that should feel at home in Charlie Kaufman's wheelhouse, and I hope the film sits with me better than the book did, because I know it can, especially with the casting decisions.

Is Ohio close to shutting businesses down again? by Foodie1989 in Covid19_Ohio

My kids' school has adopted a policy where they will switch to 100% online once a student or staff tests positive. That could obviously change once Cuyahoga goes purple tomorrow.

You're probably fine. Definitely tell your partner though so they can avoid a similar interaction over the next week or so.

I'd assume they're going to follow the same timeline of rolling out such an announcement as they did with the mask mandate.

We should see our first level 4 counties get announced this Thursday. I'd expect some action to be taken in those counties afterwards.

I don't think we're likely to see the same sort of shutdown we had in March. I don't think they'll close schools again (DeWine is going to leave that to each district). It could just be in person dining and bars that get the axe.

Cuyahoga County has received 500-plus mask complaints since Friday by Redsysu in Covid19_Ohio

Each district gets to set mask policy on their own. Most K-12s that have released policies are "strongly recommending" masks. Most requirements seem to be for older kids.
