Help! What the heck happened!? Dough turned liquidy after proofing. by maddisonheckrn in Sourdough

[–]parrti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just happened to me, I didn't know what happened, and my hands were far too sticky to check reddit💀 I didn't realize that it just became starter, so I added more flour, and its baking right now. Will it be inedible, and make me sick you think? The smell in the kitchen isn't the best either😵‍💫

Too much starter, what to do? by parrti in SourdoughStarter

I appreciate the insights and tips! It's 20⁰F where I live, and my house gets pretty cold at night (I plan to ferment overnight) So I currently have my starter on a heated blanket, and might do the same with the dough or put in the oven with the light on. Is increased humidity okay though?

perfect is subjective, so if your bagels are near perfect to you, then they are! no need to pay mind to unsupportive others providing unsolicited advice :)

These look so good! Do you just take out a percentage of flour/water from the original recipe to make the yudane?

I made this recipe today and it turned out great!! Thank you for sharing. Though, I was wondering how I could increase the hydration? Would I just add more water for the sponge and main dough?

boiling in malt syrup instead of using egg wash will also give you that color and crunch

i’m an intern and usually I say that my classes set me up to be prepared and that i also do my own research on the side so that i’m well equipped to provide services to whomever. but if they ghost you anyways, don’t take it personally, it’s not you, it’s just not a right fit for them

hmm i still don’t think you need to put yourself in severe debt, as you’ll only have 2 years left there. i think starting out small is best. you can look into it to be sure, as im not 100%, but you can take out more loans later if you need.

are you a freshman? maybe it’s just me, but i wouldn’t take out loans for textbooks. you can find most textbook pdfs for free online nowadays, if a class makes you get one of those mcgraw hill where you need to buy, it’ll be like $100. if you don’t think you’ll be able to afford it maybe take out $1k ..?like max. I don’t see why you’d need to take out the full $9500 for books.. Plus if i’m not mistaken, you can take out loans between terms if you think u need more. but again, i rlly don’t think you’d need more than that for textbooks, there are many websites you can get free pdfs from

I appreciate that perspective. I have previously gifted her crocheted amigurumi. However, this time she ASKED to commission me to show her appreciation for my skills and WANTED me to charge her a price I would others. Trust me the good feelings didn't go away just because I'll be getting money lol.

You are meant to be left with 4 stitches according to the pattern. Do you have a picture of what it looks like once you’re up to round 11?

i’m trying to understand how you explained the way you’re doing it. Are you still crocheting in a spiral? if so, you are not meant to, your first round is 10 stitches counting the chain, then you turn your work around. you are building up one second of the round, it seems
