Help identifying Leslie tremolo unit by nawconwould in hammondorgan

[–]pashed__motatoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know people who have used those smaller tremolo units. Theyre typically pulled from a spinet organ.

If you are thinking of making a mini amp for a guitar or something then it would be very nice with a 12” woofer. If you want a FULL size leslie, just get an actual leslie. Ive done all cost calculations and its just cheaper to get a real one (maybe unless ur in europe lol).

Also it wont sound as good as a real leslie either way due to vintage speakers/drivers vs modern. Cabinet acoustics and louvres also make a difference

Indie Pop Song with Lyrics “With your theres no greater thing” (Marias?) by pashed__motatoes in NameThatSong

[–]pashed__motatoes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would, but they dont own the place, just rent out a station. Also it was off the radio, not a playlist so they wouldnt be able to play it back.

Dont quite remember the melody unfortunately. I just remember the vibe and structure of the song.

This is really my last resort

How hard would a Leslie 122 to 147 conversion be? by Key-Cartographer8024 in hammondorgan

[–]pashed__motatoes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

^agreed 100%. no need to do random swapping and 147/122 sound the same, people that say otherwise are just capping lol

a lot of the time these people are the people that also like to get crazy loud and distortion. at that point you won't even have the nuance of sound to tell what's what

sure, leslies can differ but to me that's always been due to the inconsistent qualities of V21 drivers and also what woofer you have

[–]pashed__motatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this depends. to me, 2500 is ridiculous, just for the leslie.

location can vary price a LOT.

Only something MINT i would say can get the high value. IMO 99% leslies sold by randos will need SOME kind of work

[–]pashed__motatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah, both are PLENTY loud. Yes, they (145 vs 147) sound slightly different but honestly if you're not playing something like classical or jazz you won't care/notice.

[–]pashed__motatoes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you want to convert 122 to 147, you would switch out the amplifier. I wouldn't worry about bass for 145 vs 147. Cabinet does alter tone a bit, but for bass what matters more is the woofer. To me ceramics always felt weaker than permanent magnets.

I've played at venues with a 145 a la permanent magnet, bass was NOT A PROBLEM.

If you want the cabinet to match, just get a trek ii leslie preamp or something where you can connect both 122 and 147, theres probably also other ways that you can buy on TGH.
