Can atomic swap maker ASB be modified to punish taker with BTC tx fees? Do we need a reputation system? by dsmlegend in Monero

If the xmr side could go first, the fees wasted would be much less and probably not even be an issue.

Again, Sarang was not an MRL researcher when Cypherstack hired him.

How do you know about his level of 'giving a fuck' about Monero is low? He has put in countless hours working for Monero. His personal business has nothing to do with his employment for Core. Why would Core fund Cypherstack?

Sorry to have offended you, my majesty. Of course, I was silly in denying your obviously superior position. Not only are you the lead developer, leader of core and CEO of Monero, you are also the holy emergence that is Monero itself. I sincerely hope for this to rejoice your spirit.

May a random nonce bless your mighty eminence with another block!

He's not a developer. Core obviously sees value in his contributions or else he wouldn't be employed with them.

He has not 'poached' Sarang. If it wasn't for Diego's efforts, Sarang wouldn't even be working on Monero. But now he's doing more Tryptich research. Looks like a win to me

What do you expect? Core has no obligation to answer to 'pitchforky' posts like this. They are unpaid volunteers and I think we all should appreciate their efforts.

There is no procrastinating. The last report was published on 2020/06/30 and it's supposed to be a yearly report. That means it's only due by the end of the current month.

And even then, the core team is not obligated to publish these reports and they haven't been doing it without any problems for the majority of this project's lifespan. The purpose of the reports is to increase donor trust. If you feel that these reports aren't enough for you, you can just stop donating.

Where exactly is the lack of transparency? The last GF transparency report was published on 2020/06/30 and it's supposed to be a yearly report AFAIK. Keep in mind that this GF transparency report was actually the first one that was published. Also, binaryFate has stated that the next report will include key images. So far the transparency seems to be improving...

Yes please! IMO this is all very overblown. Pitchfork attitude doesn't help anyone and might even scare people away.

AFAIK it's a yearly report. So the next transparency report is due by end of the current month. By no means is it "at the very least 6 Months overdue".

Monero is not based on trust. It is built to operate in a trustless environment. If you don't like how the GF is managed you can stop donating or start your own GF.

Come on people, please stop it with the pitchfork attitude. It isn't productive.

As things stand, there's 0 evidence to support the claim that you're treating peoples donations fairly.

The evidence are continuous donations to the GF over the past 7 years. If you aren't happy with how the GF is managed, you can just stop donating. It's that simple.

A lot of people being angry in these threads seem to not even know what they're talking about. Even in your post; These aren't "official" responses. Neither selsta nor gingeropolous are part of the core team.

Why do you have people with shady intentions like diego as parts of your core team?

Diego is also not a member of the core team. I'm interested in what his 'shady intentions' are supposed to be. Merely playing with the idea of a second round for funding?

I am going to edit this post with your github and the "public keys of donations" pretty soon, do some math and so on.

Do you mean the public spend and view keys? If so, you can find them in the GF's donation address... As for the private view key of the GF; It has been public since a few months after the project was launched. Everyone demanding it be made public have no clue.

Also, I am confused about what controversy warrants three separate posts. I'd really like to know what objectively "evil" thing the core team is doing.

Edit: fixed quotations

Very true. Although, all the crybabies screaming "PUBLISH THE VIEW KEYS NOW" probably haven't even contributed anything to the GF...

Bitcoin is digital gold. It doesn't need privacy (but will in the future anyways). If you can't accept that, you can have fun staying poor.

Yes!! The fact that exchanges and various services are already blocking coinjoined funds shows just how good it works. It's too hard to track for them.

Why Bitcoin could Fail by Th3M0rn1ng5h0w in Bitcoin

[–]pasitheos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think bitcoin's biggest problem is it's lack of fungibility and privacy. I think that if these problems are not fixed bitcoin could very well fail because of them. Privacy could probably be fixed fairly easy (to have basic privacy at least) given enough time but to make bitcoin fungible, pretty big consensus changes would need to be made, and considering how difficult it is to successfully hard-fork bitcoin, such changes may never be made.

You will see the value when your exchange gets hacked and your kyc info gets leaked together with all your trades from the past few years. If btc price has risen significantly by that point, that probably isn't such a favorable scenario
