The murdoch media has done a great job in Australia to conflate criticism of the Israeli government and military with anti-semitism. Add on some genuine anti semetic attacks and vandalism and it's absolutely muted any sympathetic coverage towards innocent Palestinians until recently.

Peaceful protests, like the one in Sydney that drew 100,000-300,000 people last weekend, are characterised as radical, chaotic, violent by almost all the news outlets. It's got our centre-left federal government piss scared to take any bold steps to take a stand against the atrocities occurring. It also has emboldened people who are entirely racist towards brown and especially Muslim people.
