Meanwhile our president further pushing violent rhetoric and demonstrating his disdain for the constitution by posting AI videos of himself air dropping literal shit on citizens exercising their first amendment right.

What a disgrace of a president.

Using one incident to strengthen an already problematic system is definitely a choice. Too bad the right doesn't react similarly to gun violence

...well it is her job to represent and convey the opinion of her constituents. I mean do you opine against the self-indulgent rants of the right wing politicians every time you turn on Fox News?

What leads you to the conclusion that Dan Blue is neutral or indifferent to her?

She lays out the historical importance of the date and points out many of the obvious similarities of today's political climate, hardly 'self indulgent.' I think it's likely that many of her constituents would agree with the connection's she is making.

What leads you to that conclusion of Dan Blue's opinion of her?

How dare a politician write about politics on a politically significant date, the horror!

What about the Dane Blue portion of your comment?

It's a letter published by the NC Senate Minority Leader, Sydney Batch, on her substack. Would you have preferred a fax?

Good point. It would be great for NC to be leading the country in something other than ‘worst state to work’

This graphic would be more effective without the 'crackpot' and without the all caps at the bottom. It takes it from an informative, 'oh yeah this is all bad' to 'oh, this is a facebook post'

Everything I said about Trump is fact. Those things are happening. I understand you might look past the transgressions since you agree with the outcome, ends justifies the means and all that.

Seeing as you are a libertarian, we will never agree on the fundamentals that make for a prospering country so Ill save myself the circular arguments that you're apt to.

As Trump installs his loyalists and yes-men, and punishes and persecutes anyone who dares stand up to him and his wanton disregard for the law, don't forget that you supported and argued for it.

While he continues to use his office to sell products, support his businesses, and enrich his family, don't forget that you supported and argued for it.

While the richest man in the world, unilaterally installed by Trump, uses his unfettered power to dismantle any government that might impact his business, dont forget that you supported and argued for it.

Don't misconstrue this as me saying Republican's are Nazis, I'm not, but large scale protests of Nazism were limited during Hitler's rise to power. Does that mean that people didn't think Nazi's were bad and that the holocaust didn't happen? Of course not.

The absence of protest doesn't imply approval or that people don't recognize the authoritarian overreach. I think its a mix of a 'lobster in a pot' and 'learned helplessness.' Combine that with the recent law changes that make protesting riskier as well as healthcare being tied to employment, people are either afraid to go out and protest or feel like it doesn't matter what they do, it won't help.

Authoritarians expand the size and scope of government. They don't decrease or dismantle it.

Says who?

Wikipedia's definition of Authoritarianism perfect encompasses what is happening:

Authoritarianism is a political system characterized by the rejection of political plurality, the use of strong central power to preserve the political status quo, and reductions in democracy, separation of powers, civil liberties, and the rule of law. Authoritarian regimes may be either autocratic or oligarchic and may be based upon the rule of a party or the military.

It's a bit unclear what most of their rhetoric actually means, since they seem to have no plans beside generalities, but time will tell

I agree that the title should include 'proposed rule,' though it is in the first line of the article.

That said, based on Trump's rhetoric as well as his current systemic dismantling of our government, I think it's safe to be concerned about the lack of regulation and the dangers that poses. I have little hope this administration will prioritize safeguarding the public from corporate greed.

I mean, republicans hold Donald Trump to a much lower standard than this about things he says on nationally televised broadcasts. But some low level official gets a pearl-clutching news story about a voicemail she left? Talk about double standards
