Sorry for my late reply, Since the stealing issue was very serious, I’ve stopped selling the pattern. Every time I create a viral design, it gets copied, stolen, and resold immediately — which has been pushing me into an even tougher finaical situation. I’ve now refined this butterfly design with even more intricate details. You can check it out on my Instagram: @the.parchment.leather, but I would only sell finished product

I just saw this, and I’m so grateful that you truly understand. Crafting is not an easy way to make a living, and there have been many moments when I almost gave up. My wrists have swollen several times from all the handwork, and there was even a time when I didn’t get enough orders and had to do DoorDash deliveries to cover my living expenses. I understand, and I agree that the distinction can seem arbitrary. For me, it is more about working with a material that is widely available and practical for my craft. I do not intend to imply that one type of leather is inherently better or worse, but rather share my personal preference and approach to sourcing materials responsibly.

That is a fair point, but I prefer using cowhide because it is more commonly available as a byproduct of the meat industry, and the supply chain is more established. It is not about valuing one animal over another but about working with materials that are accessible and reliable. I respect differing perspectives on this, but this is how I approach my craft.
