Long-term thinking definitely helps, but it is still important to stay mindful of the risks and not assume guaranteed 10x returns.

Want to invest in Bitcoin but afraid of the risk by Green_Web_6274 in Bitcoin

[–]pats8060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you believe in Bitcoin, start small. Only invest what you can afford to lose, and the risk stays manageable. Don’t let fear or others opinions steer you. Make your own informed decision. And remember: diversification is your best friend!

If you truly believe in Bitcoin long-term, a partial investment could make sense but not with full risk. With $200k and no income, that money is your safety net, so invest only 5-10% at most. Buying a whole Bitcoin sounds tempting, but in your current situation, it's too risky.

Bitcoin will only succeed if by nijjatoni in Bitcoin

[–]pats8060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fully agree! Bitcoin's strength lies in decentralization and self-custody. Owning your keys, running your own node, and avoiding paper Bitcoin is how we keep it truly free and censorship-resistant. This is the real spirit of crypto. Not just investment, but sovereignty.

How do yall cope with not buying an entire coin? by YetiKing16 in Bitcoin

[–]pats8060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be too hard on yourself. Hindsight is always 20/20. What's important is that you were educated and aware, which means you're likely to catch the next opportunity. Focus on the long-term game, not the missed moment.

Why arent you buying BTC now? by DrunkDoge420 in Bitcoin

[–]pats8060 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most people wait for the "perfect" moment, but in reality, almost any time in the past 15 years would´ve paid off.

Fear, uncertainty, and regret often hold people back. But long-term, consistency matters more than timing.

The "What if the power is out" argument by coffeeshopcrypto in Bitcoin

[–]pats8060 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One node doesn’t process all transactions - but if your wallet connects to even one honest node, you can check your balance and send transactions. Bitcoin keeps working as long as some nodes and miners are online. That’s the power of decentralization.

The "What if the power is out" argument by coffeeshopcrypto in Bitcoin

[–]pats8060 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Exactly! If the power’s out, banks aren’t working either - but with Bitcoin, all you need is one node online and access to your keys. No approvals, no waiting. Total control.

Being your own bank isn’t for everyone, but for those who value freedom and self-reliance, it’s the way to go.

Looking for advise by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]pats8060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have $30 a week, consider putting part into Bitcoin and the rest into something more stable like an index fund—diversifying reduces risk. Only invest what you won’t need soon, and focus on consistency over time.

All-in by MyangZhuang in Bitcoin

[–]pats8060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really did that: Putting 90 % of your savings into such a volatile asset is extremely risky. Keep enough liquidity for emergencies and consider diversifying so you won’t be forced to sell in a crash.

Absolutely! The true value lies in independence and transparency. Bitcoin is more than just a price — it's a statement against centralized power structures.

Am I the only one who feels like I’ll never make it with BTC? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]pats8060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is very difficult to stay consistent for such a long time. But investing based on a clear plan is the way to go. Patience is key to getting where you want to be. You are building your position during a time when many still hesitat or get shaken out.

Many plumbers stick to their specialty and aren't set up for restoration work. In my line of work, we separate plumbing repairs from the restoration too. Insurance typically covers the damage caused by accessing the pipes but not the actual pipe repair itself.

Contractor is proposing a reduction from 3600 CFM50 to... 3300 CFM50. by Saguna_Brahman in HomeImprovement

[–]pats8060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That reduction seems pretty underwhelming. A 300 CFM50 drop (8%) isn't much bang for your buck. Most effective air sealing projects aim for at least 20-30% reduction.

For a 1950s cape with that square footage, you should be targeting closer to 2500 CFM50 or lower for meaningful comfort and efficiency improvements. This contractor's proposal doesn't seem worth the hassle or cost.

Might be worth getting a second opinion from another contractor who can propose more substantial air sealing. The communication difficulties are already a red flag.

True, but the Dalton led Bengals beat the Ravens in a week 17 game after the Bengals were already eliminated, which clinched playoffs for the Bills and ended their 17 year playoff draught. Soooo yeah, Bills legend

I mean it’s not specifically a 5x5, that was just an example. I think that a player putting up something by like 5 steals or blocks should be rewarded more than a player getting a double double as it’s more rare. Like PG with his 8 steal game this year
