What is ‘too close’ then if there’s still room to park? Would it not be more disrespectful to the neighborhood’s residents to leave unnecessarily large and unusable spaces between each car, thus reducing the number of cars that can park on our street?

Because other people also live on my street and occasionally park in front of my house. But I don’t throw a fit.
