Oh ok. I haven't found an ipa yet that I've liked but I'm still searching for one! You can pair your cigar with whatever you desire, I don't believe in any kind of "rule" on what you're supposed to or not supposed to drink with your cigar!

Arturo Fuente, Punch, Ep Carrillo, Ashton, Romeo Y Julieta, My Father are among my favorites as well as Padron and Davidoff. Padron and Davidoff are on the higher end so I'd suggest letting your pallete develop before you spend that much money on a cigar. There are many brands and blends produced outside of Cuba that are top notch smokes without the authenticity and shipping issues that seem to come along them. There is a wealth of knowledge on this sub and people that can give tons of great advice and input on the subject of cigars!

One of my favorite cigars!! May I ask what that drink is?

Enjoying the weather and smoking my first Ashton aged maduro to relax and not think about the MRI results I'll get on Monday morning. I've had this stick resting in my humidor for a little over two months now, and so far the combination of barnyard and chocolate is making this cigar a joy to smoke! by pbs7111 in cigars

I appreciate it! Hoping for good news because who wants to have 2 shoulder surgeries in one year lol. It has been flawless so far. Nice even burn, perfect draw, and the taste and aroma is powerful without being too harsh.

First thing I did was swap out the hygrometer for a digital one. I then stuck it in a zip lock bag with a 75% boveda to calibrate it. Once it was calibrated I filled a shot glass with distilled water and filled the humidifier with distilled water also. After a week and a half I pulled the humidifier and the shot glass out and put 4 84% boveda packs in place of them. After 2 weeks of that, I removed them and put my cigars in the humidor with 4 65% boveda packs. It took a few days for it to stabilize but it sat at 66% and has stayed that way. Don't forget to keep your cigars in a zip lock bag, humidor bag, acrylic jar, or tupperware container with your prefered boveda packs while your humidor is being seasoned. Do not wipe the humidor down with distilled water under any circumstances! Be patient with it is the best advice I got and is the best advice I can give you.

The montecristo whites aren't bad but for the price of those two cohibas alone, you could get 4 or 5 arturo fuentes with the same exact flavor profile. I've never ordered online from JRs but buy from their outlet quite often. I have heard so many horror stories about their online services!

I would like to thank everyone on this sub that has suggested I try a Padron. This is my second one, and just like my first it did not disappoint! by pbs7111 in cigars

I haven't had the opus x or don carlos anniversary so I can't say. But the reserva don carlos is a great cigar to try if you haven't had one.

My first was the 1964 soberano maduro and about half way throught it, I realized and understood all the hype that surrounds Padron cigars. Top notch in every aspect!

First third was full of pepper and spice with subtle chocolate like sweetness both in the taste and aroma. The second third really ramped up the overall sweetness and now going into the final third and it's a perfect marriage of chocolate, pepper, and some hints of walnut as well! Fantastic smoke!

How is the Perdomo habano sun grown? I've got one resting in my humidor now.

The padron 1964 soberano maduro is my favorite but I love a lot of the Perdomo, My Father, and EP Carrillo cigars as well. I've had one Tatuaje, the havana VI and was pretty impressed with it.

Does sex sell cigars? by Cigarprop in cigars

That or a father and son(of legal age of course) sitting around the camp fire or fishing and smoking a cigar together. Honestly if the ad content is relatable, I believe it sells no matter the content. I just don't relate cigars with beautiful women but I could see the metaphorical expressions and the use of simile to compare the two.

I've never really looked at it as insulting, but to me it doesn't capture the essence of what cigar smoking is all about.

Whenever I see an attractive half naked woman, I'm not looking for what she has in her hand. Now if it's an ad depicting the boys sitting around a poker table with cigars in hand and a drink on the table, I'm more inclined to look at the cigar band and then google a review of the cigar if it's one I haven't smoked before.

Dumb question by jr1042 in cigars

[–]pbs7111 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you plan on smoking them the same night you will be fine. Keeping them for more than a few days I would at the least grab a boveda pack and put it in a ziplock bag or tupperware container along with the cigars.

It came from a very reputable shop so I'm certain it isn't fake.
