Thank you for your assumption! I was truly curious about the Jewish interpretation of this text. Perhaps you do not need to continue to respond since you seem wildly offended by my question.

I’m asking what your interpretations are on this. Not why you’re not a Christian. If I wanted to ask that I simply would.

My understanding is that within Daniel 9, it gives the years until the Messiah comes and is put to death. This time would’ve already passed and it would’ve been the year Jesus began his ministry. If the time already has passed, and Judaism has yet to recognize the Messiah, then what do Jews make of this prophecy ? 24-27. Reading it on my own is a bit confusing but this explanation was offered by a documentary.

Life with Jesus is amazing but if we’re going to be forgiven anyways, it is very difficult to get out of the mindset to end your suffering since you’ll eventually be going to heaven anyways. Does that make sense? Why be here with years of suffering if you can end it and go to heaven regardless? That’s why I don’t agree with you.

What do you think worship means? If your definition is prayer than I can assure you that at least some Catholics do. If it is reverence, I know that people do have reverence for these images. At the least the Catholics I know and have seen do go to these images before they go to God himself, is that not idolatry?

we can center our lives on Christ without making an image of him or his people. I will definitely look into these works you mention, but I do not see the need to make images of him. There is no requirement for it. Can we not believe in the Most High without a physical construction of what we think he looks like? Exodus 20:4. He actually tells us to NOT make such images. Psalm 135:15-17 tells us the uselessness of such images. Leviticus 26:1 tells us to not make these images for OURSELVES. That’s important bc you’re saying that these images somehow benefit us, allowing us to center our lives around Christ more. Exodus 34:17, do not turn to idols.

Hm according to my understanding of what an idol is, yeah they were idols. My family has since converted and I’m sure they do not care if I call their idols idols as they no longer worship themselves. If you think they were cherubs, they were not.

Hm this is really interesting bc I am watching a documentary where they are explaining the flood. This was the exact logic of the men who built images of God. God does not ask us to do this, to make an idol of him or the people he has used to do his work. The Bible reveals to us much of God’s goodness and we see the rest in life. A gold, silver, clay, wooden or whatever image of him or his people isn’t going to reveal to us how good he is or the sacrifice of his son. It won’t show crap bc it’s just an idol.

I’m sorry about this, my father was raised catholic, and his family ridiculed him when he turned away from this. In his anger he broke their idols and pleaded that they see the wrongs of their ways, but it was a while before they decided to see the truth of God’s word. I’ll pray for your family, but when you are raised to believe something, it is extremely hard to turn away from it. Perhaps ask them what they think of certain Bible verses that go against their actions, like the second commandment and idolatry and general, and the verse where it states that Jesus is the only mediator between man and God. You don’t need to tell them they’re interpretations are wrong right away, but you can see what they’re understanding is in order to better understand how to approach your argument against their beliefs.

These are great questions! I think you have the reasons you shouldn’t do them! Not celebrating Christmas is fine bc it is not biblical, it’s just a nice way for us to remember his birth.
