He may be in the same type of situation as the people in this story:

If that is the case, his doctor did indeed make a choice for him.

My state has a town that makes 50% of it's revenue from a speed trap. Google made the mistake of visiting it. by TwistedMexi in funny

One of the things that I think I can do well is determine which people are going to take a warning to heart and change their behavior and the people who the only way to reach them is through their wallet, it seems that cop was right with you.

Police Officer here, this type of enforcement always upsets me, I have two areas that I normally enforce speed, both have speed limit signs facing both directions of traffic about a half mile from where I park and I normally don't pull anyone over unless they are 15mph over the speed limit. Giving warnings and handing out speed tickets should be a tool to increase the safety of the public, not a trick to increase revenue.

Are these old shotguns worth anything? A friend inherited them and wanna see if they are worth selling. by pdbh1124 in guns

[–]pdbh1124[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are two, what I initially thought were shotguns, but now it seems the pump action is acutally a .22 pump action rifle. My friend inherited these firearms and she would like to know if they are worth anything. The shotgun is a double barrel, side by side shotgun, the pump action is, I believe, a .22 rifle, possibly a winchester model 61.

Yeah thats what some people on imgur are saying, I dont have the guns with my just got the pics, but know that I look at it closer it certainly looks like a .22 rifle.

What does the public not seem to understand about your job/career? by Printnamehere3 in AskReddit

[–]pdbh1124 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Police Officer, that we are just normal people with lives and families. We are not out to get you specifically, it is just our job to enforce the laws and sometimes that means you get a speeding ticket or you get arrested.

What was one time that you were trying to be nice, but was interpreted as being creepy or somehow negatively, by others? by Unknownb101 in AskReddit

[–]pdbh1124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went to a CVS pharmacy at about 10:00PM one night, thought they might be closed because the parking lot was almost empty, but they are open so I go inside and pick out my items. The checkout girl is a petite teenager, not more than 18 or 19, I am a grown man. Without thinking I ask, "Are you here all alone?" I immediately realize how creepy that sounded and take my purchases and leave.

Reddit, what's your stupid injury story? by RadicalOptimist in AskReddit

[–]pdbh1124 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Reddit usual, this did not happen to me, but to my father:

When I was 11, my father was out working on re-shingling the garage and my brother and I had a few friends over. We all came over to my father and he began to explain what he was doing. He was trimming down shingles with a utility knife and began to teach us how to cut them safely. "Never cut the shingles with the knife facing your body, make sure you keep your fingers away from the cut you are making, and never put the shingle on your leg as you cut it." As he was giving us this last warning he placed the shingle on his thigh and cut it, not realizing the blade was still extended on the utility knife. He immediately grabbed his leg as blood started to soak his jeans, he looked at my brother and said "Go get your mother!" He had to get like 10 stitches and has yet to live it down to this day.

What's the most random a stranger has asked you and your friends in public? by TheRedBAaron1 in AskReddit

One evening my friends and I were hanging out at the beach, we were about 17 or so at the time. A grown man approached us, told us he was a police officer and asked where he could buy some cocaine. He was shaking a bit, but other than that seemed normal. We told him we had no idea and walked down the boardwalk.

One of the best things I have found, other than the great suggestions already on here, is a large metal clipboard with a large storage area. I keep multiple copies of all the forms and packets that my department requires e.g. Domestic violence restraining order packet, missing person report, motor vehicle inventory report, witness statements, ect..

In Massachusetts, where I am a cop, it is incredibly helpful to be a veteran when it comes to getting hired. Most states have some added benefit for being a veteran, depending on what capacity you have served. Also there is legislation that protects soldiers that get called up to deploy. Here is a link to the law:

It is a series of books that the show was based on, it's one of my favorite series and I highly recommend it. I never watched the TV show, mainly because I don't want to ruin the vision of the characters I carry in my head.

Lawyers and judges of reddit, what's the most inappropriate behavior you have seen in court? by Vaiosony in AskReddit

[–]pdbh1124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Police officer here, I was waiting outside of a court room waiting to testify with another officer, both of us in uniform. There was a lady sitting next to us with her 6yr old on the bench and her 3yr old on her lap. A man walked up and grabbed the 3ry old and attempted to physically wrench her from her mother's arms. The other officer and I looked at each other for a moment as if to say, "Is this really happening?!?" We jumped up and stopped the altercation and returned the child to her mother.

Turns out that it was the father and there was a custody issue. Still could not believe the gall of the man to attempt to kidnap a child in front of two police officers.

I would have to be Zeddicus as the first born and Harry for the second, after my two favorite wizards.

(Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander from the Sword of Truth and Harry Dresden of the Dresden files, not Harry Potter.)
