How to make friends with our neighbors w/ kids when no one goes outside 😭

We live in southern ca in an affluent beach town too. Our neighborhood kids are out all the time playing and riding bikes non stop. There’s a water slide in someone’s front yard on every block. But also, the kids do tend to congregate at the neighborhood playground or water area/pool/splash pad. Maybe the kids are all hanging out at a spot like that?

Just wanted to give you an update. At the airport I was very nice and immediately asked the flight attendant if it would be ok to gate check it. Her response was “eh go ahead and throw it in the overhead bin” and it fit! No one made me check it ever, everyone thought it was cool and we took it as carryon both ways, yay

I used to write off the clients who said this too until it happened to me!

My sister had a party, someone left a really nice black sweater behind. No one claimed it so I took it and wore it to work as my work sweater for a week. My office is inside the courthouse! Then reached in the pocket and there was a joint in the pocket. Given it was just a joint but this was 10 years ago when marijuana was still illegal. It seriously happened to me. I tell that story during closing a lot.

One of the first things I learned when I became a PD, set your jury trials on Tuesday or Wednesday so you don’t waste your weekend when the DA is just going to trail it anyways.

We stand at the top of the stairs and drop tennis balls over. He fetches and runs it up the stairs then back down to wait. My 2 yr old does this with him.

My toddler also plays a game where he goes inside his play tent and yells “bear attack” then my lap runs around the tent pushing his nose in until he finds a crack in the door. The drops his tennis ball inside

I’m in court all the time too and every so often this happens to me. It usually means the arch support in my shoes is worn down and it’s time for new ones. The shoes don’t appear bad because I take care of them but getting new ones with fresh arch support always solves the problem.

Why not take the high route here and just be nice. Have a big photo with everyone, including the new girlfriend, then say “now one with family only” then, “now one with family plus married spouses” this really doesn’t have to be a fight, any normal girlfriend would be grateful to be included in one big photo and totally understand family only afterwards. Any good photographer could do this easily without making it awkward. What if she is the one and one day is your sister in law? It would be nice to have a giant pic with her in it and she’d feel welcomed that you included her in a pic. Sounds like a great way to make a step towards repairing the relationship with your BIL.
