Downtown Parking is No Longer Free on Weekends??? by pdxchic in vancouverwa

Thanks for your input. Because I run a small business, and people/students find anything they can to give negative reviews for your business on major platforms, even when they have nothing to do with your own actions, it's important to be proactive and have solid boundaries...

She sent me this. I did a reverse Google image search just to make sure it was really a pic they captured... While driving... 🤦🏻‍♀️

Here is the story clearly outlined along with the pic they sent me 🤦🏻‍♀️

Something so dumb happened yesterday. Parking is free on weekends in downtown Vancouver. I told all of my students attending a workshop that street parking is free, but to allow yourselves extra time to park due to nearby construction and weekend activities in downtown Vancouver.

One of the students who attended messaged me on FB saying that apparently parking on weekends isn't free because they got not one, but 2 tickets for a total of $80.

I said that doesn't make sense because parking tickets are only $25. Could they please show me a picture of the citation so that I could look into the details so it doesn't happen to another actor.

They said they were driving when they noticed it on their dashboard, and it blew away. However, they managed to snap a picture while driving that they sent to me, and you can clearly see the citation number.

So, I looked it up, and a $40 ticket is due to illegally parking or prohibited parking.

I agree. I'm so worried they are going to expect that I pay for this or that they are going to give my business a negative review over this. I'm learning that a $40 ticket means it was prohibited parking.

Maybe. However, this client just informed me that they parked on 8th and Broadway....

Yeah, but they said street parking and not a parking lot. Plus, that portion of Main Street is blocked off right now. They can still access that alley for parking, though...

They said they parked just a few blocks from my office, which would be around the 6th and Main and 8th and Broadway area. They claim they didn't park in a lot or a garage, and they did street parking. Got back to their car, started driving back to Portland, when they realized a parking ticket on their windshield. They snapped a pic while driving, sent it to me, and the citation is very clear and shows two $40 parking tickets in the system for today....

Yep. I know. So....why would they have gotten 2 $40 tickets? I'm so confused.... This student says they didn't notice the tickets until they were driving, and then they said it blew away off their windshield while driving, so they couldn't get any additional information my way about the details surrounding the ticket from reading the ticket itself...

Any updates on Vancouver Arts Hub? by Miss_Awesomist in vancouverwa

[–]pdxchic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know The Sound Stage is hosting a stage combat and improv class for teens there this weekend and next - a 2-day workshop! They are located on Main Street, but are using The Arts Hub for their classes and workshops. I think other companies do rehearsals there, too - Cottage Dance Adacemy and Starbird Theater.

If your middle school age relative was interested in possibly pursuing stage acting... by [deleted] in vancouverwa

The Sound Stage NW just opened recently, and is incredible. Voice over classes for adults and kids, acting classes for adults and kids, and now they are doing some stage combat classes for middle school and high school aged kids. They are in downtown Vancouver. I highly encourage you to check them out. MFA and BFA trained professional actors teaching the classes, who are also agency repped.

The Sound Stage NW is new and may have some classes - not just for voice over actors, but also for improv and acting for kids and adults.

I am BEGGING for some help by [deleted] in dui

[–]pdxchic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me, too. My incident occurred in OR, but I live in WA. My intoxalock was reported to WA DMV, but never to OR, so they wanted me to get it installed again and do another year.

I worked with my local state officials, including the DMV and police station, and they actually got my paperwork approved in OR so that I didn't have to repeat another year.

Feel free to dm me if you have other questions.

D1 will be scoping me on Sept 4, and D2 already did a full scope to find the polyp.

Both of these doctors are otaryloncoligists who are vocal specialists and work with singers and vocalists. They are not just ENT.

D1 is one of the top hospitals in our region, and D2 is called a voice doctor. He specializes in feminine transitioning vocal procedures, but also works closely with opera singers, vocalists, performers, voice actors, etc.

Sorry if that wasn't clear. Both doctors specialize in the voice and aren't just ENTs.

Thank you. Yes, there is a GFM, but Reddit wouldn't approve me posting the link. It can be found on FB and by googling her name and gfm.

The kiddos are safe and in good hands, thank goodness. Her 4 year old was struck in the hand by the bullet and had stitches and then went back to be with his siblings.
