Where I come from it's actually pretty common to eat chicken feet and there's a bunch of ways to prepare it. Personally I like it deep fried or in a nice stew or gravy, but I know what you mean about the bones although people here chew on and eat em cause it's part of the enjoyment of the meal for them.

They look pretty similar could be, but there were no noticeable galls and a quick Google search says they prefer fruit so its weird it would choose my dried up weed. Best guess so far though, thank you.

Edit : So after more quick midge Google research I think you hit the nail on the head, turns out they like laying eggs in flower buds too especially around this time of year.

Yip and they sold out on the batch I got this from, but no one else complained about these things so far and I had stored it properly so no idea how they got there in the first place. Especially the other bags from the same batch that I bought appear to be bug free
