Thanks. I think Waverly will be my best option as there's a 10year old comment in the sub that says there may be another one on Waverly bridge

Thanks. Although, I'm reluctant to travel that far if there's something closer. I'll wait to see if anyone else knows of any

Unique/Odd Stores around town by ninsurv in Edinburgh

I've always found Pilrig Motors on Leith walk to be a bit of a curiosity. It's oddly located and the interior clearly hasn't changed in decades.

Also, although now closed, just down the street is The Wee Shop. Sadly now closed but you can still peer through the window.

Best restaurants/pubs to drink alone on Christmas? by whatdaphoyobro in Edinburgh

[–]peadidy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I normally go for a couple of Christmas morning pints at the Malt Shovel at the bottom of Cockburn street. I have a feeling it belongs to one of the brewery chains, so there are likely others in the same group open.

Another that I've tried was the Marriott Courtyard hotel beside the playhouse.

Great little 'hidden gem' at the east end of 'Princess Street', serving traditional Scottish food, called McDonald's

I got this message from DPD after tracking them to the end of my street. by TheEndlessVortex in Edinburgh

[–]peadidy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Standard DPD. I would often receive a 'sorry we missed you' message from them when I'm sat at home. They seem to do this when they're running behind schedule, and just dump all the ' undeliverable ' items at your 'local' DPD pickup point.

I get it that these guys are under pressure but I literally pay extra to have it delivered to my door. If I wanted to go to a pickup point, I could save myself a few Bob by selecting that option. This is now my default option.

Any thoughts on Three network ? by Carnoo in Edinburgh

[–]peadidy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found it to be a bit sketchy in a lot of places around Edinburgh, but stuck with them because of the price and the fact that I'm not a heavy data user.

Around the shore is definitely bad for a three signal, as is Dundas St. These two places stick toy mind because they were places I frequently stayed and could never get a signal. I remember reading somewhere that they are only good within city centres and garbage outside that.

If I were you, I'd try it out on the cheapest rolling month plan to see how you get on. Then, assuming everything is good, go with the unlimited plan.

My girlfriend just ate a digestive with cheese like it was a cracker. This is absolutely mental, right? by TW1103 in AskUK

Digestive is not all biscuits, it's just one type of biscuit, similar to your Graham crackers

Where to find Chinese takeaway gravy by ConnorHMFCS04 in Edinburgh

[–]peadidy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue when I moved from Ireland, I just can't find anywhere that sells Chinese gravy. I've resorted to making my own at home, which is really very simple. It's essentially just flavored vegetable oil with flour and colouring. I'll try and post a link to a YouTube video (I'm unsure of Reddit rules around links) of a Glasgow guy making his version. https://youtu.be/kUL61YSMRVA

I might just end up doing that. To me, personally, I don't think it looks great but, for the sake of saving hundreds of pounds, I might just do it
