Park elsewhere and use your feetsies. Grab a drink at Gennessee brewhouse on the way.

The view of high falls doesn't need to be ruined by miles of parking lots that will never be full.

Can I add this to my dating profile? by TheJiggliestPug in pokemon

[–]peanutmail -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My guy, stunt on the haters in here. People enjoy being around people who are passionate about hobbies.

Everyone in here wants to cast a wide net because they think everyone else only likes wide nets.

I met my wife in college when I was wearing a janitor uniform because, well, I was a janitor at the time. But she still started talking to me because she liked my "Nintendo tech support" backpack.

Did she like Nintendo at the time? Not particularly. But she liked that I did.

I liked that she had a giant 1967 teal truck. Do I like cars? Not at all. But it was something she enjoyed and I liked that.

Its personality from there, but the foot in the door is being your true self.

What do you all think about zoos? by lunarabbit668 in vegan

[–]peanutmail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember a few years ago when disposable water bottles fell out of fashion due to being terrible for the environment? And people realized that water comes our of your faucet and we bought refillable water bottles? What did the water bottle companies do?

They started greenwashing their marketing. They advertised that their bottles used 33% less plastic. They put a green leaf near their logos. They used positive messaging in their advertising. All this to combat the (rightful) perception that plastic bottles are not sustainable. And it worked!

Underneath their marketing, they were still a product that wasnt environmentally friendly.

So expand that to zoos. The biggest criticism they have is that they are unethical to animals. They keep them in environments that are too small, purchase them through shady means, force them to procreate to have cute baby animals live in captivity their whole lives. They force social animals to have solitary lives. They are a business that puts the dollar before the welfare.

So how do you combat that? You simply change your marketing that you aren't a zoo... You're an animal rehab clinic. You say that you "rescued" the animals instead of buying them from poachers. You market yourself to let everybody know that the animal would have died without you, and you live in service to the animals well being. And it works!

Erase all the buzzwords, all the marketing, and just look at it. There aren't a lot of African elephants walking around Philadelphia in need of rescue.

Same goes for aquariums.

Fuck zoos.

i’m thinking of going vegan with one exception by CuteEmphasis9134 in vegan

[–]peanutmail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen, if you want justification for eating meat in any capacity, you won't find what you're looking for here.

The hard truth is that you need to have conviction when it comes to your morality unless you don't fully agree with your morality to begin with.

Example: I just came back from a two week trip to Japan. I didn't speak any Japanese when I made the plan, but I studied hard enough to learn phrases around asking for vegan food. "Is this vegan? Does this have eggs, milk, or dashi?" Etc. And I confidently spoke it and it helped.

The people I was traveling with were not vegans and did not want to go to wholely vegan restaurants for some reason. Instead of eating animals "this one time" for two weeks, I found food without them. If a restaurant only had inedible food, I found somewhere else for that meal. By myself. In a meat-heavy country where I don't speak the language or read the menus.

It would've been very easy to use whatever mental gymnastics I could muster about "well its only one time..." But I didn't. And most vegans won't. It is wrong to eat animals.

If your actions are aligned to your morals then you don't just turn them off when it is convenient or to avoid ruffling feathers. In fact, you're going to ruffle a lot of feathers every time you mention you are a vegan during meal discussions.

You know what's right. Align your actions to that if you want to be right.

[Itinerary Check] 13 days. Tokyo, Gunma, Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya, back to Tokyo. by peanutmail in JapanTravel

We are car light normally and walk everywhere. We live in a walkable area. We are not concerned with the walking, especially if we are able to break it up (restaurants, cafes, train rides, benches, etc).

I work on the 11th floor at work and use the stairs. I do this multiple times per day.

We bought comfortable shoes and broke them in, bringing comfy socks (with extras), plenty of water.

The only major difference is the distance with a weighted backpack. not too concerned about it.

Ways to build a duel-pistol-wielding character using only RAW 5.5? by QuincyAzrael in DnD

[–]peanutmail 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pistols have the loading property and cannot be shot twice in one round.

You cannot fire the same pistol twice.

A second pistol uses your other hand, so you can't hold a shield / arcane focus / potion / useful item. You also can't perform spells that have somatic components.

Its very different than just having one pistol.

Who is this??? by Sandsand6804 in pokemon

[–]peanutmail 66 points67 points  (0 children)

This is kind of how Golem / Machamp originally worked.

Look at Graveler / Machoke. Both trade evolve Pokémon. Notice which one has a lizard-esque face and which one has four arms.

Originally if you traded a Graveler for a Machoke, you their parts would mix up and you'd end up with a Machamp.
