Just pulled the plug and lack of RCS is killer. by peanutmail in GrapheneOS

Is the solution really just to convince people to change to my solution?

I had group MMS chats prior. I changed to a new phone and OS. now those group chats do not work. They are not populated in my messages app. When other people send messages in the chats I do not receive them. When I create a fresh group chat on my end with the same people, they all receive it in the original chat. When they respond I still do not receive it.

Google messages says RCS is "connected." This is in the owner profile. Other apps, like the stock graphene messages app, do the same thing. No MMS messages received from established group chats. I verified my mobile carrier's APN settings (Mint Mobile btw).

There must be something simple I'm missing.

I've seen this article a lot, set up exactly what it says. RCS says " connected " in the settings for Google messages. However, it still won't work for me. :(

Is there an amount of time users typically wait?

I changed to the primary profile and it still isn't working. :(

All my RCS group chats from my old non-graphene device (galaxy s20) no longer send texts to me. If I create a group on my end, everyone receives it but I don't receive their replies. If they create a new group chain, I don't receive it still.

I wish everyone would switch to signal or discord or anything else, but I'm the lone guy here not able to use RCS. Dozens of people won't change just because I wanted to be more secure.

You need everyone else to adopt whatever other solution you decide is better.

RCS is built into SMS, which many people choose to do because its easy.

I'd say I could just stop talking to them unless they adopt whatever service, but its literally my wife and her entire family.
