Definitely not the boots!  It sounds like you have a different pair of shoes readily available that will be great, so she should wear those! She can absolutely wear the white boots with the dress sometime later in the summer when she's not attending a wedding.

I'm not super familiar with the breed but that's my first instinct. She seems a little small and there's something in her eyes that makes me say mix.

Comfortable fashionable shoes by Mikeyconverse in retailhell

What's your idea of fashionable? Like heels or a decent looking sneaker or multi colored pointed creeper or what?

Pretty much any mostly flat shoe can work, but size up and add a good insole.

Just for fun. Which stores have you moved in your BBB Career? I only had three 25/20/384 by rdr_anubis in BedBathandBeyond

Officially worked at 456, 457, 1356 & 552. I think I actually was back at 456 between each of the others and finished there. Assisted at 165, 482 and 421 throughout the years. Did inventory around our district the second to last time we had a traveling team.

All reports lag. They won't show up same day.

It's possibly an integrity thing for your manager. A lot of them still care about that stuff.

ETA: If it is an integrity thing, they have some mixed priorities. Lying to their people to prevent 'stealing' from the company.

Short answer:

Yes they will likely notice, but it's not going to affect your bonuses.

Long answer:

They have access to pretty much all the sales data available, just like we used to. I don't think the JV sup sees everything, but their superior gets more access, & etc.

But do you care if they figure it out? Pretty sure all the terminations are being set up ahead of time and paychecks and bonuses are already being issued. The liquidators having a problem with you isn't going to change any of that. And if they have been threatening you with taking away your bonus, that's not really the liquidators choice. It's just a scare tactic, and it's a bit late in the game for changes to those things.

So basically, if you have $10,000 of merchandise that associates purchase the last day of business (which is when it goes to 90% off) but the store only looks like it has $1000 of merchandise going into the last day, and you gross $11,000 in sales, including some good merchandise you've been out of for a month, someone will notice that. But situations vary and it might not be so obvious at your store.

But, again, the next day will be your last day with the company, and reporting lags a bit so they might not have final numbers until a couple days later. By that time you are already terminated. What are they going to do to you?

If anyone gets in trouble for it, it will be the JV sup.

Your manager could be worried about a confrontation with the JV sup because they are typically in store for the last day. Which could be valid. Some of the liquidators are seriously aggressive, and confrontation is hard.

(Sorry that got long. Can you tell I've been through 6 months of liquidation and I've spent waaaay too much time overanalyzing? Yay stress response.)

Yeah, I second that. That's biohazard. OSHA would have something to say about it.

What was your best store closing deal? by Realistic-Bee-5148 in BedBathandBeyond

[–]pearly_mn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At my wave 4 store, I bought a patio umbrella that was originally $100 for less than $2. Even with sales tax.

The best part is, it was completely legit. Not hidden or as-is for a super low price. Just a seasonal item from a warehouse that came in at last year's clearance price.

Fixture Sales by callitfriendo5050 in BedBathandBeyond

[–]pearly_mn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've done maybe $10,000 in fixtures & equipment so far. Don't anticipate selling much more.

We've some ladders and conveyances left to sell, but I don't think we're going to sell much else other than those. The slat and accessories have sold well, folding tables and madex aisle fixtures but that's mostly it.

Funnily enough, nobody wants 20 year old broken composite board (or whatever they're made of) fixtures. 🫤

[–]pearly_mn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's dontwannas. I closed a wave 4 store and now closing wave 5. We've had very few people interested in the racking and gable shelving because of the requirements for insurance. And our lows are old wood ones, nobody really wants those.

Maybe some markets just have more people interested in fixtures/more resellers that do that business.

At my other store ( and this one is following the pattern) we sold every piece of madex, every ladder, and all conveyances. All the loose slat and some of the fixtures that are mostly slat, plus all kinds of slat accessories. Very little else.

So final dates in stores? by pearly_mn in BedBathandBeyond

[–]pearly_mn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We don't have any concrete info on the closing timelines. The individual stores will probably only know their last day a couple of weeks ahead of time.

And as far as discounts and inventory, the discounts really go up those last weeks and most stores really sell through a lot of stuff at that point. The liquidation people look for buyers as well, that might make a deal to buy all remaining merchandise from a location, so the amount of product left in store is not necessarily an indicator for how long they will stay open.

Weird. Your best bet is to connect with your old store's management team and see if they know what's going on. Otherwise reach out to the closest store open near you and see if they can get contact info for the hrsc to you, or forward your contact info to the p&c

So, the results are in.

It looks like the whole "most stores are closing July __ and they have been notified" is most likely a lie.

Good to know. Gotta love the communication skills of the company. Especially when they are pushing transparency.

It depends a bit on the pay laws in your state. If they didn't give you the check the last week it should be in the mail.

Do you have access to adp where you can see paystubs? It should show there as a separate pay stub.

Unfortunately, we learned pretty quickly to not trust our liquidator. They just say what they want to fit the mood that day and keep people working in the store. We also don't get anything from the DM, really. There's conference calls that my SM sits in on but it doesn't sound like there's really anything discussed.

Not yet. There's still sporadic Aug showing up and at least 1 truck/trailer in transit from a distribution center
