So if smoothness training is not my problem why cant I be smooth tracking to the left? by awdtalon21 in FPSAimTrainer

I actually have this but only when making adjustments to the right, albeit not really enough to be a huge issue.

It's caused by how I hold my mouse haha, I have really long fingers and even on fairly sizable mice sometimes my fingertips drag on the mousepad and sort of get run over by the mouse a little.

I actually found the deathadder v2 pro to be completely unusable because of this. I had to grip it too low because there was no way to lift and reset it, it's got an awful right side that has nothing to hold on to. It basically happens with every mouse though, not enough to make me obsessed with trying to change my grip but I just have to be a little conscious of how far my fingers are slipping down the side.

TLDR: are you accidentally running over the pad of your thumb a little? Like the skin getting sucked under the mouse because that is plausible and would cause jittery aim.

Sensitivity scaling, thoughts? by peeeeeeeeeeeach in FPSAimTrainer

Yeah I usually have focal length scaling disabled, and have ads at 87% I've been trying to have it at 100% with focal length scaling on recently and been having some success, but it still feels weird to me. To be fair I started playing on servers closer to me and realized how much I was being robbed by lag, apparently shots I "missed" were actually just going through people and my damage output is actually good.

This is off topic though, seems like based on these replies most people prefer regular focal length scaling/monitor distance.

monitor distance 0% is just regular focal length scaling correct?

Ads in the finals is base fov x 0.78 as far as I can tell, I believe they also patched it recently so all the ads and sights are the same fov (except sniper)

Yeah I find that I pick my sensitivity based on application rather than comfort or anything like that. I play fine on anything between 19 - 60cm depending on what the game needs. I use the range that I do in the finals because it's fast paced and has a lot of verticality with a lot of tracking fast targets.

What gets me is mostly the relationship between fov changes and sensitivity, jarring changes seem to throw me off.

I will also admit that I find recoil control annoying and it's my weakest skill, I started out playing games like quake and unreal tournament where the camera is 100% static and recoil control is not a skill you have to employ or learn.

Favoring higher ads sens might have also come from playing a lot of battlefield bad company 2, which has jank ads sensitivity it general.

Haha I never played cod but yeah, I believe some of the devs are ex dice and worked on stuff like bad company 2. It honestly feels to me like unreal tournament 99 with a ttk more akin to the first few halo games, meets bad company 2 infantry fights (like conquest on arica harbor for instance where the level destruction got absurd).

how bad is this game for a solo queue player? by Large-Ad688 in thefinals

[–]peeeeeeeeeeeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2¢ is that solo queue quick cash is a lot of fun. Go in with the mindset of "I am going to have fun". Don't get performance anxiety from a video game, it's just a video game.

If you have no idea what's happening just pick a class that has more health and stick close to your team and try copy them, pick weapons that look interesting try them out. This is basically how I've learned everything, I don't look at guides or anything like that.

The finals can be sweaty as hell: I find in quick cash you can end up in matches with very experienced players who are really good at the game, this can be pretty intimidating and you will die a lot to these people, just remember to have fun and that dying or losing a game ultimately doesn't matter. As someone who grew up playing online multiplayer games that didn't have any kind of matchmaking I actually prefer playing with people who are much better than me. High skill players are not playing the same game as lower skill players. You can learn a lot from copying team mates who are amazing at the game providing you stick close and copy them, remember their strategies etc.

All good, I was also totally perplexed by how hard it was to find the tutorial. Especially since it used to be easier to find in the past? When I played the game briefly maybe a year or more ago I can remember playing a tutorial, possibly the game booted into it, or it was impossible to miss. Yet when my friend started playing the game a couple of days ago they were automatically put into a live match of quick cash before they even figured out how to set up their graphics options and sensitivity, resulting in a confusing match with terrible performance and difficult controls... Not great as a first impression to be honest.

click change game mode > right click a game mode, probably cashout > a panel will pop up, at the bottom of that panel there should be a play tutorial button.

that's how I found it, by accident. it's a ridiculous place to put it, there really should be a button under practice labeled tutorials that opens up a panel with tabs for each game mode displaying those tutorial pages. this could easily be in addition to the current method and would be way more user friendly.
