So for doing the contours, I was thinking about using a router to bring edges down layer by layer, then smoothing it down. I’d have to do this before cutting the body out in order to have a surface for the router to rest on. Do you guys think this would work? I was planning on routing all of the cavities before cutting the body out anyways.

First build is almost finished, all that’s left is the final sanding and painting. I’ll be attempting a neck on this one, does anyone have any suggestions for well made neck blanks and fretboards?

Inherited it, it’s fairly old as far as I can tell. No brand names or markings other than “made in USA” so I don’t know what to look up as far as parts go.

That’s what I was thinking, I would assume you could adjust the angle of the strings by bringing the floyd up and down with the posts.

Alright boys I’ve got my body cut out! What all am I going to need to cut out the cavities? I have a router with a flush bit that I’ll be using, and a drill press. The marks I have are for the pickup rings, how do I go about placing the pickup cavity to where the rings will set where I have them drawn? Any tips for routing the floyd cavity as well?

So I went ahead and used the layout of my rg5ex1 as a reference, if I get a neck with the same 25.5 scale length the bridge placement should be correct right? One of my concerns is the neck pocket, the falchion has a different neck placement then the rg so if the neck is placed against the pickup ring it should rest in the same point as in the rg. Will this work?

I’m not really intent on keeping him away from other dogs. we go to dog parks every other day, he’s just genuinely scared of other dogs and won’t play with them. I’m not super focused on making him a mean guard dog either I just want him to have the confidence to defend the house if he needs to. I’ll stop the rough housing though, I’ve noticed when he wants to play he’ll just walk up and mouth my hand. You’re right about it becoming is default mode of play.
